October bucket list

Spring has sprung, and we’ve somehow made it to October...

‘Tis the season to wear lederhosen, drink beer and eat pretzels! This October is set to be a stunner, with no shortage of things to see, do, and eat.

Spring Fest at The Bavarian

The Bavarian is putting a spring in our step with their exciting new food and beverage package! For just $69, you can enjoy two hours of food, beer, cider, wine, and cocktails. Expect share-style dishes such as warm pretzels, golden chicken schnitzels and apple strudel with cinnamon and vanilla ice cream. The deal will be on offer until November 3, so you have plenty of time to grab your spring crew and get feasting!

Oktoberfest

Beer, pretzels and lederhosen–what’s not to love about Oktoberfest? Even though the official event has been cancelled this year, there are still plenty of places to celebrate! Cloudland will be throwing an epic party, with German beer on tap, schnapps cocktails, wine and German feasting boards served to your table. Make sure to rock up in your finest lederhosen for your chance to win Miss or Mr Oktoberfest… Learn more about their event (and sister venue The Island’s) here.

Boom Boom Room Izakaya

Boom boom, make room for the exciting new Japanese joint opening up under Donna Chang! From Friday, October 2, relax in the dark, moody interior nestled under city streets and feast on delicious snacks such as barramundi katsu bao buns and miso-glazed toothfish. The cocktails, too, are not to be missed, featuring Japanese-inspired flavours like cherry blossoms, lychee and green tea.

Walkabout Creek Cafe pop-up

We love a pop-up, and this one has us particularly excited. On Friday, October 16, treat yourself to a night of fine dining at Walkabout Creek Cafe. It is set to be an unmissable foodie experience, with a five-course degustation menu created by chef Graham Towner, who has over 20 years’ experience at some of London’s top restaurants. Your tastebuds will be taken on a delicious adventure with a sophisticated menu featuring the finest produce. Bookings are essential, so head here to grab yours.

Gin on the Jetty

On Wednesday, October 7, spend a night sipping on one of Australia’s favourite gins while looking out to gorgeous Moreton Bay. Tide on the Jetty is kicking off its monthly Gin on the Jetty series with an epic line-up from award-winning Australian distillery Nosferatu. For just $49, tickets will include a gin cocktail on arrival, a delicious mezze platter for your table, and a guide through the distillery’s tipples by owner Rory Smith. Take our money!

Customs House Moët Rosé Garden

Step into spring the right way, at Customs House’s Moët Rosé Garden pop-up. From Friday, October 2 the seasonal paradise will return, featuring igloos decked out in blooming botanicals. Soak in the stunning views whilst sipping on pink-hued drinks and snacking on a menu of delectable bites, like that famous Moreton Bay bug croissant with chips and truffle aioli. Don’t forget to dress in your finest florals, because there will be Insta opportunities galore!

Le Festival

Say bonjour to Brisbane’s celebration of all things French, taking place from October 16 to October 18. The three-day cultural affair will be action-packed with market stalls, French food vendors, wine tasting and plenty of activities. It’s the perfect chance to get a taste of France, (which is home to some of the most delicious food in the world, of course). Think croissants, cheese, crepes, mussels and much more. It’s a big ‘oui’ from us!

Let’s do it, October!

Keeping The G&G up to date with tasty tidbits requires a lot of lattes and espresso martinis, so we occasionally collaborate with local businesses we love, like this one.
