Sure, we eat, but how often do we celebrate food?
If you answered not often enough, congratulations – you get us, and you’re about to gain excellent (and delicious) insight into our favourite costal celebration of all things snacky and sippy – Noosa Food & Wine Festival.
The highly anticipated cuisine-fuelled festival is returning from May 16-20, with dozens of events ranging from dinners with celebrity chefs to farm trail feasts set to change the way you view food and booze.
Now, we’d all love to attend every last event on the list, but for the sake of our wallets and waistlines, here are five events that you cannot miss at this year’s Noosa Food & Wine Festival!
Good things come in threes, especially when presented by Land & Sea and Noosa Heads Distillery. On May 17, the brewtiful two will put their party planning skills together to present three hours full of food and beverage stations, live music and brewery and distillery tours at the Beer, Gin and Gourmet Junk Party! Expect everything from gin oysters to spent grain pizza, with five drinks included in your ticket cost (featuring a special release aged beer as one of the sips!). Ah, the heart of Noosa Food & Wine Festival. Festival Village is the festival’s ultimate foodie hub, with pop-up bars, chef’s tables, live cooking demonstrations (hello Matt Preston), producers markets and more spread out across May 18 and 19. Caviar and bubbles for $35? We’re happy to say that there’s no catch, but you do need a Festival Village pass to attend (and as if you weren’t going to get that already). Hosted by Natalie Traversa, this bubbly little masterclass is running on May 18, allowing you to experience six styles of caviar paired with Yarra Valley Chandon Sparkling Wine, and giving you the opportunity to school your mates on fine dining trivia in the future (a tasty win win). A paddock to plate experience like no other, the Taste of Hinterland Farm Trail will guide you across three unique Sunshine Coast farms with unforgettable tastes at each stop. Across the tour on May 16, you’ll pause for a green smoothie at Shambhala Farm, morning tea at The Falls Farm, and finally a two-course lunch with matched wine at Hinterland Feijoas. The holy trinity of Noosa Food & Wine Festival are teaming up for a lavish lunch dubbed Line Caught – Grain Finished. On May 17, chefs Shane Bailey, Ben O’Donoghue and Nick Holloway’s land and sea-inspired lunch will showcase freshly caught fish (by all the boys themselves and local fisherman Sean White, mind you), as part of Noosa Boathouse’s signature four-course feast. See the likes of kingfish, jewfish and cobia grace your plate, with Pipers Brook wines paired to perfection. Tickets are available here.
