My Mistress | The G&G guide to Brisbane cafes

Clayfield has a new mistress and she’s definitely the brunch date type. Just opened on Sandgate Road, My Mistress is an all day breakfast, lunch and coffee spot with very seductive fare. The second venture from the gang behind She Bangs Coffee in Albion, My Mistress has the same charm and cheek as its sister venue, with a hipster vibe and a whole lot of sass. An eclectic mix of long share tables, outdoor seating and wooden benches makes up the seating in the cosy café, with a rustic industrial feel complemented by pendant lighting, vintage pieces and a recycled wood counter. brisbane-cafes-my-mistress-2But the menu is where the fun really begins, with cheeky flings or main affairs to choose from on the all day breakfast menu. The Sweet Thang is definitely more than a bit on the side, with French toast topped with smoked bacon, maple syrup and seasonal fruit, but you might be seduced by the Eggs Monica, corn and zucchini fritters topped with scrambled egg, smashed avo and roasted cherry tomatoes. We’re not sure what they have to do with presidential infidelity, but we like them. The café will also be doing daily lunch specials soon but if you just want to sneak in for a cuppa, they’re pouring Genovese Coffee and also do a frisky cold press as well as smoothies and fresh juices. My Mistress is open seven days from 6am until 2pm. Words by Ranyhyn Akui
