Meet new CBD café Mr. Claude

  • Food & Booze
As if CBD workers weren’t already spoilt for choice for good coffee, they now have a new kid on the block to stop in at for their morning brew. From the makers of Corbett & Claude comes Mr. Claude, a cute and unassuming lane way cafe nestled underneath the historic Corbett Chambers building on Elizabeth Street. Don’t let the somewhat hidden location deter you though, this little brother to the new Indooroopilly restaurant and soon-to-come CBD venue is doing the family proud. Sit down or takeaway, the coffee is flavoursome and robust without being overpowering, with a cold drip option on tap as well. Barambah milk, almond and soy options will keep everyone in the office happy when it’s time for the 10am caffeine run and your ‘generous’ offer to make the trip for all will be rewarded by the treats you can keep all to yourself. Easy to carry, hard to resist, the array of sweets of offer includes gluten free Nodo Donuts and raw slices, or less guilt free options like brownies and croissants. For lunch on-the-go, grab a generously filled roll for $9, with pesto chicken, pumpkin and feta, three cheeses or Wagyu fillings – though you may find them too hefty to eat on the move and find you need to stop and stay a while. If it’s an early morning snack you’re after, our pick is the build your own breakfast bowl. This huge bowl gets piled with your choice of fruit, crumble and muesli (with gluten free available) and is sure to keep you filled, fuelled, and slightly more enthusiastic about facing that morning meeting with marketing. So come and meet Mr. Claude, he’s a friendly guy! Located at 293 Elizabeth St, they’re open from 7am to 4pm Monday to Friday. Words by Kat Gridley
