Market stall of the week: Nom Nom Mobile Food

  • Food & Booze
It might be winter, and you might be craving some serious comfort food, but step away from the deep fried spiral potatoes next time you’re at the markets. Summer (and its bikinis) is coming. Instead, head to Nom Nom Mobile Food, where you’ll find hearty salads full of winter vegetables and grains that will provide comfort (even if it is the nutritional kind) to your body and soul. Providing wholesome vegetarian food at local markets, events, and festivals, Nom Nom source their tasty food locally and only the freshest, rawest, vitamin-packed ingredients make it into their scrumptious salads. There’s a different selection every week but you won’t find any unsatisfying, tasteless, too-leafy offerings in their big bowls of goodness. What you will find is strapping salads like chickpeas with fennel, roasted sweet potato, shallots, bean sprouts and toasted pepitas, dressed in roasted garlic. If you’re lucky you might even get your choice topped with roasted beetroot hummus, a natural house made dressing so vibrantly coloured you just know it’s good for you. You’ll find them around town at the new Carseldine Markets, the Jan Power’s Farmers Markets (CBD and Powerhouse) and others, occasionally including the Finders Keepers Markets. Check their Facebook page to keep up with their movements. Words by Ranyhyn Akui
