Fire and ice and all things nice.

We hope your skate-or-die is on speed dial, because King George Square’s pop-up ice rink is officially open for business!

From June 21 to July 14, Brisbane’s fairy-lit winter wonderland will either have you casually slinging triple axels, or holding onto the barrier for dear life while you see your life flash before your eyes even though you’re barely moving… but hey, all’s fair in love and ice skating.

No night in the rink is complete without good food and flaming fantastic cocktails (you’ll see what we did there in a second), which is why you’ll need to slide over to neighbouring favourites Goldfinch and Sixteen Antlers for specials designed specifically around the pop-up ice rink!

Goldfinch is known to offer the complete package, and their Dinner and Skate deal is no exception. Your choice of two courses plus 40 minutes of ice skating will total $55 per person, letting you indulge in the likes of charred Mooloolaba prawns with nduja, warrigal greens and lime before sneaking in a tactical handhold with your date on the ice (noice).

If you’re hungry for more, Goldfinch’s loaded hot chocolates (including peanut butter and caramel, white chocolate and rose, and mint chocolate) and winter dessert special (the Goldfinch Mess) will be available until the end of July, sweetening the idea of ditching your couch for a wholesome night out.

Started from the bottom floor, now we here. Staple CBD rooftop bar Sixteen Antlers is also getting into the winter spirit with a Frozen Flame cocktail (there it is) and limited edition platters!

The Frozen Flame is the enough to challenge the Flaming Moe itself, with vodka, Cointreau, blue curacao, vanilla, lemonade, and coconut shavings topped with a flaming lime!

Platter-wise, choose from either a share board loaded with artisan cheeses and cured meats, or a mezze platter of barramundi spring rolls, blue cheese arancini, salt and pepper squid, crispy fried chicken skewers and fries – your body will thank you.

We’ll see you on the ice (and at Goldfinch… and Sixteen Antlers).
