Love Your Local - Love at first bite

  • Food & Booze
Three years ago I met the dish of my life: butter chicken cooked in a mild creamy tomato gravy enriched with ground almonds, accompanied by saffron basmati rice and a plain flour naan. This was no cheap fling or one nightstand; my restaurant relationship with A Night In India has been long lasting and true. Without fail, I have either dined in or ordered takeaway from my favourite local Indian restaurant every fortnight since moving to Toowong. I even have my text-in order message history (and shameful butter chicken message template) to prove it… Not once have I been disappointed with the dishes served at this bona fide Indian eatery. Consistency, generous servings, and affordability has made this local my go-to when craving a heart-warming, homemade meal. Perhaps what I love most of all is being able to walk in looking my worst (gross hair, football pants, and flip flops), only to be politely greeted with a smile. Seriously, friendly service is an understatement. So next time you’re in my neck of the woods, stop by Shop 3, 58 High Street to try the butter chicken (or the butter vegetables, malai kofta, or butter beef – some of my other favourites). You know you’re a regular when you’re on a first name basis, and they always have a table for walk-ins even on their busiest nights. Now that’s true love.   Words by Lauren Maynard
