Hidden away down Trafalgar Lane in this is one ‘famiglia’ you can visit without being quizzed about your life goals as soon as you walk in the door – and with Italian dessert platters on the cards, we’re about ready to welcome owners Deb and Cosimo into the annual family photo with open arms.
The laneway spot has combined trendy deco with a sophisticated throwback to the boot-shaped motherland. Exposed brick meets stylish black walls in a whirlwind combination of cultures, with a living herb wall and painting montages of scooters, wine and bowls of pasta leaving you absolutely no doubt of what’s on offer in the kitchen.
With a glass (or three) of their famous Puglian wine on hand and a host of antipasto selections to nibble on, Ristorante La Famiglia is tough to beat for lunch hours and cityside catch-ups. Be fair warned, though: you’ll struggle to pull yourself away after a glance at the heartier menu choices – not to mention their famous Tuesday gnocchi nights!
