Where to eat during Brisbane Festival
There’s nothing quite like dinner and a show, and with Brisbane Festival looming we’re already anticipating...
If Brisbane’s love for barbies, prawns, rosé and a certain American pop star weren’t enough of a hint, this city has an obsession for everything pink.
Case in point: dining destination King Street is celebrating this month’s Brisbane Festival (September 6-28) with a highly-anticipated pink-themed feast that spans across all your favourite Bowen Hill restaurants– and the G&G is here to give you an official pinkprint of this rose-hued foodie trail!
Officially titled The King’s Banquet, this precinct-wide trail is the perfect treat for those heading to BrisFest shows happening at the nearby Tivoli, or within the street itself.
Those planning to kick off The King’s Banquet in the morning need look no further than King Street Bakery, who are already on a roll with their delicious pink special! Specially curated by head chef Julian, the bakery’s limited-edition raspberry roll is a mouth-watering Swiss roll baked with raspberry and white chocolate ganache. Kuhl-Cher Coffee, Musette, Emporium Barber, Super Combo and Sushi & Nori are also getting in on the pink theme with some delectable offerings for visitors to experience.
Up the street, the peeps who are planning to hit one of Brisbane Festival’s The Cold Record sessions best step into La Macellaria first for an equally icy pink treat! Grab their exclusive pink grapefruit sorbet, which comes infused with rose and Earl Grey tea! We’ll have ten scoops, please.
The King’s Banquet will have you tickled pink when it comes to tipples as well, with venues on the street providing some beautiful pink drinks. Cruise into Beerhaüs for a delectable Strongbow Blossom rosé cider on tap, or saunter into Fat Dumpling for the Senorita cocktail (a vodka, tequila, strawberry, and lemon juice blend) paired with pink xiao long bao! The Paddock Bar at Rydges has also conjured up a beautiful pink cocktail to celebrate and, of course, El Camino Cantina will have a fabulous strawberry margarita for you to slurp!
Lastly, you can’t catch Bedtime Stories in King Street without grabbing a King’s Banquet dessert first! Italian favourite Il Verde is here to help with a delightful, limited-edition pink panna cotta made with luscious dragon fruit and served with crunchy pistachio biscotti.
If you want something that will last a little longer, get into the pink theme of the festival by visiting Tigerlamb who’ll be able to give you a pink ‘do to remember! Plus, Artisan, Queensland’s home of craft and design, have curated some cute and quirky pink items that you can keep forever if you’re a lover of pink!
In addition to the special bites on offer, King Street is also running an Instagram competition that promises one lucky winner a pretty nifty giveaway; purchase the specials mentioned above and upload a snap of it to the ‘gram with a couple of tags (@kingstreetbrisbane, @brisbanefestival, and #brisfestkingsbanquet #kingstreetbrisbane) for your chance to win two tickets to September 28’s Official Sunsuper Riverfire event at the Treasury Brisbane Arcadia in South Bank! Get creative, as there are weekly prizes up for grabs too.
Let’s face it, foodies–The King’s Banquet already has you wrapped around its pink(y) finger! When will you be heading in?
Keeping the G&G up to date with tasty tidbits requires a lot of lattes and espresso martinis, so we occasionally need to give out some sponsored love. Rest assured that we only work with businesses that we think are really nifty, as the sponsor for this post is!
