Is this the summeriest breakfast menu in Brisbane?

What would a Brisbane summer taste like if you had it in front of you for breakfast? We’ve never thought about it before, but after seeing Locavore’s new summer menu, we’re pretty sure we’ve found the answer. With a menu that lists local producers like they’re rockstars, Locavore’s food commits to a simple ethos: local, ethical, sustainable. Hand picking the finest growers, farmers, bakers and roasters, from Maleny milk to Caboolture raspberries, the Locavore team build their entire menu around local and artisan goodies. It’s a dedication that results in some salivation-worthy feeds! Stop by the cosy Woolloongabba café for a Brisbane breakfast (which you can get all day, by the way), and you’ll find scrumptiously summery dishes like the vego friendly breakfast salad, with roasted sweet potato, sprouted grains, sautéed greens, poached eggs and almonds given a dollop of spiced Barambah Organics yoghurt. The bircher muesli may just have you rethinking your attitude towards cereal, while the trout and dill scramble will entice you to get those omega-3s in. locavore brisbane breakfasts 2It’s not all lean and green of course – there’s plenty to indulge in if your idea of a summer breakfast is a little more food baby inducing. Buttermilk waffles come piled with caramelized banana, coconut ice cream, butterscotch sauce and salted peanut praline, while the braised lamb shoulder with prosciutto, poached eggs and sweet potato hash would leave Sam Kekovitch proud. If having breakfast at noon isn’t your cup of Byron Bay Mayde Tea, you can always try the lunch menu. We’ll leave it to you to decide whether the bacon cheeseburger with bacon jam and house made pickles or pumpkin and grain salad with feta, pepitas, poached chicken and mustard vinaigrette is more in keeping with your summer diet. Of course, you can’t dine at Locavore without sampling the Marvell St Roasters coffee, with a different single origin bean on the board each week. Over caffeinated already? Try a soda from BNE Soda Co, or go all out with a PB&J milkshake with house made peanut butter. Drooling yet? If you’re ready to check out the summeriest new breakfast menu in Brisbane, you’ll find Locavore at 130 Logan Road, Woolloongabba, open 7 days a week. Words by Ranyhyn Akui
