Is this Sunnybank’s best breakfast?

You’re probably already well acquainted with Sunnybank’s dumplings, noodles, stir fries and hot pots, but did you know there’s also an uber cool café dishing up scrumptious Asian inspired breakfasts, as well as lunches and dinners? If not, you really should – and not just because it’s one of the few spots in the ‘burb you’ll find smashed avo and crispy bacon on the menu! After taking over the southern food scene with their sizzling chocolate brownies and epic ramen burgers, Southside Bistro is now doing breakfast from a bright and early 7am seven days a week, and they are definitely worth a trip. You won’t find your regular morning feeds on the menu here, instead you’ll tuck into creative and oh so Instagrammable plates like matcha granola with coconut panna cotta, dried strawberries, poached apples and mint yoghurt, and breakfast puffles (a fluffy egg waffle) topped with pork floss, oolong tea eggs, housemade pickles, steamed rice and deep fried Chinese doughnuts. Even the more familiar menu items are a little adventurous – smashed avo on Turkish comes with salmon roe, shaved fresh coconut Thai salad and toffee caramelised nuts, while pork belly benedict comes with ginger and lemon hollandaise and a kimchi and lychee salad. The seriously hungry might want to feast their eyes on the miso and maple bacon with chilli fried eggs – complete with homemade baked beans, Asian pickle salad and toasted Turkish bread, it’s enough to sate anyone’s breakfast cravings! There’s plenty more on the menu to drool over, all of it ready to pair with a smooth coffee or one of their specialty taro lattes or matcha green tea lattes, but we’re going to let you find out for yourself – just trust us when we say you might have trouble deciding on only one dish to order! You’ll find Southside Bistro in Sunny Park Shopping Centre at 342 McCullough Street, open for breakfast 7 days a week. Words by Ranyhyn Akui  Keeping the G&G up to date with all the latest tasty tidbits requires a lot of double lattes and espresso martinis, so we occasionally need to give out some sponsored love. But rest assured that we only work with businesses that we think are really nifty, as the sponsor for this post is!
