While here at the G&G we’re usually uncovering the latest brunch spot, hidden bar or happy hour - it’s time to switch lanes, folks.

We recently happened upon Brisbane’s best kept getaway secret, and being the over-sharers we are, it’s time to fill you in. Say sayonara to Brisbane and hello to the ultimate escape to the country – secluded, stylish Clear Mountain Lodge. Nestled in the little-known hinterland just 40 minutes drive from Brisbane’s CBD, Clear Mountain Lodge sweeps across 20 acres of native bushland and gardens, bringing with it more tranquillity than your mum gets listening to Enya on a Saturday morning. You’ll feel miles away from that 9-5, and enjoy temps a few degrees cooler than the balmy city (22C? Dust off ya plaid shirts and scarves, my friends). Best yet? This joint is affordable AF, so you can feel like a high roller without sacrificing your daily smashed avo’s or afterpay addiction (we swear we don’t have a problem…).

Check into a lodge suite (bonus points for the gram-ready design, sweeping balcony and DUAL RAINHEAD SHOWER #pinterest), then it’s time to trade your standard Friday riverside drinks for a sunset savvy b on the deck at Lakeview Restaurant. The panoramic views of the Glasshouse Mountains, Moreton Bay and Lake Samsonvale will whet your appetite for what’s to come: dinner next door at Mandy’s on the Mountain. With a menu bursting with fresh spins on classic comfort food, a meal here is worth the drive from Brissy alone. With many of the ingredients sourced from the chef’s herb and market Garden and beehives, it’s as local as you can get. Our picks? Start with pan seared scallops with lemon & pepper gnocchi, or the gincredible gin-cured Tassie salmon with edible flowers on a plantain fritter. The Bundy Pork – rum braised pork belly served with caramelised apple – will have you chanting QUEENSLANDER after a single bite …

Just save yourself some stomach space for a tiramisu with pistachio ice cream or chai panna cotta. Thank god it’s only a short roll (and we literally mean roll) back to your suite – and a soak in a bathtub so deep and luxurious it’ll make you happy cry more than a Queer Eye episode. Spoiler alert: Tim and Abby 4eva. In the AM it’s time for an epic buffet breakfast on the Lakeview deck, so bring that tote bag for swiping extra pastries (we all know you’re going to). Breakfast is the most important meal of the day after all. More activity led than feast-and-chill? Firstly, check yourself. Secondly, Clear Mountain Lodge has got you sorted.

Book yourself a massage or steam treatment (life-changing) at on-site Stephanie’s Mountain Spa, wander through the vineyards, take a dip in the pool or venture further afield to one of the area’s hiking trails. You might never want to make the journey home. Prefer eggstravagant escapes over Easter eggs? Ditch the chocolate (NEVER) in favour of a three night Hinterland Easter Getaway. Clear Mountain Lodge is offering readers accommodation for two for $165/night with daily buffet breakfast, sparkling wine on arrival, late checkout and gift vouchers for Stephanie’s Mountain Spa. Mention G&G to receive a bonus cheese platter on arrival!

Get all the details here then get around it.

Disclosure: G&G stayed as guests of Clear Mountain Lodge, though all opinions and tears shed over bathtubs and Queer Eye are our own.
