How to spoil Mum this Mother's Day

  • Food & Booze
Racking your brains for somewhere to take mum for Mother’s Day that will somehow repay her for decades of loving care and all-round wonderfulness? Here’s a list of fab places around Brisbane that will make her feel super special. Aria | Mother’s Day Lunch It probably won’t be cooked by Matt Moran himself but a three course meal at Aria would still make any mum’s day.  Twice cooked pork belly with pickle relish and crackling is better than any man anyway. Kookaburra Queen | Buffet Brunch So corny, we know, but a Kookaburra Queen cruise down the Brisbane River is possibly the most novel setting for a Mother’s Day Brunch.  And you have to admit, sipping on champagne cocktails as you float past the city sounds like a pretty groovy way to pass a Sunday morning with mum. The Barracks | Mother’s Day High Tea and Movie Bubbles, high tea, a fashion parade and a chick flick? What more could she want?  It’s all on at The Barracks. French Twist and Mayfield Chocolates will be providing the delicacies for this high tea so it’s sure to be delish! Spring | Macaron Masterclass This one will show here how much you love her AND get you a lifetime of macarons in the bargain.  Plus, she’ll get to take home a boxed selection of perfect macaroons – like their salted caramel or pistachio flavoured delights.  Much better than those biscuits you baked her when you were 10. Peel St Grill & Cellar | Mum’s Roast Dinner Have someone else cook the Sunday roast for a change and take her to Peel St Kitchen for a gourmet roast dinner.  It’ll be even better because instead of doing the washing up after, everyone can indulge in a sweet treat like the PSK dessert steam bun with grilled banana and caramel sauce.  Did someone say steam yum? Next Door Kitchen & Bar |Champagne French Martinis Tell mum to put on her glad rags and take her Next Door for some hooch with heart. Proceeds from Next Door’s Champagne French Martinis served on Mother’s Day will be going to the Breast Cancer Foundation.  So you can feel doubly good about treating mum to gangsta chicken wings and giggle juice. Story Bridge | Mothers Day Her Way The Story Bridge Hotel thinks it should be up to her how she wants to celebrate her day, so they have it all.  Buffet breakfast? High Tea? Relaxed lunch? A la carte dinner?  Or perhaps a slow cooked lamb shoulder at The Shelter Bar is her idea of a celebration (it would certainly be dad’s). Brisbane German Club | Fruehschoppen The Brisbane German Club is celebrating Mother’s Day with Fruehschoppen!  No gesundheit necessary, this German style brunch will include a free rose and champers plus a prize for best hat, so hat up ladies! Cloudland | Three Course Italian Feast Taking mum to the spectacular Mother’s Day affair at Cloudland and will really knock her socks off. The whole family can graze on divine Italian nibbles like seared veal in wild mushrooms, cream, garlic and wine and smoked duck, baby beetroot and herb labna in the jaw-droppingly gorgeous setting that is Cloudland. Gambaro Seafood Restaurant  | Seafood Buffett A seafood buffet is just the classic Aussie way to celebrate anything, isn’t it.  And Gambaro’s has this tradition well and truly covered.  With fresh king prawns, whole baked Atlantic salmon, oysters, baby oysters, sashimi…and the list goes on! Sake | Japanese Lunch Treat mum to a Mother’s Day lunch with an international twist at Sake where she can try creative Japanese cuisine with a glass of Pink Lady Sake to wash it down.  Tuna and salmon sashimi-filled baby tacos with chilled tomato salsa sounds like a delicious adventure into Japanese cuisine. e’cco bistro | Three Course Lunch e’cco bistro knows one course isn’t enough to show her how much you appreciate her.  Their three course lunch even includes a box of chocolate truffles for mum to take home, though if she indulges in the chocolate brownie, peanut butter mousse and dark chocolate ice cream dessert, you might just be able to talk her into giving them to you. With a list like that, you have no excuse for not treating mum to an amazing Mother’s Day she will remember for years to come.  No burnt toast breakfasts in bed this year, please.
