How to adult: Cheat’s Butter Chicken

We’ve all been there. You whip out the recipe book to dish up a total MasterChef-esque master piece, start flinging tarragon, cumin and turmeric (not to mention an array of spices with all of the zing and none of the consonants) around the kitchen, only to end up with a failed dinner on the table and yellow hands for three weeks. Is that something to impress the in-laws/your parents/your date/your dog silently judging you from the corner of the room? No. No it’s not. There’s no shame in your total inability to whip together a successful curry dish (that sh*t’s hard man, trust us, we eat out 90% of our life out of necessity). Beat the impending doom of landing yourself with some sort of food based vitamin deficiency or dishing yourself up an apple for dinner for the fourth night in a row and take a note out of Sharwood’s book. We’ve got three words for you friends. Cheat’s. Butter. Chicken. Sound like you? Read on! (If this doesn’t sound like you, move along please, you’ve got your life together – go you.) Ingredients:  1 tablespoon of oil 2 chicken breasts sliced 1 sweet potato, diced into 1cm cubes 1 jar Sharwood’s Butter Chicken Sauce 200 grams of snow peas Method:
  • Stir-fry chicken breast slices in a little oil for three minutes, then add the sweet potato and continue to cook for a further five minutes.
  • Add the sauce and simmer until the chicken and sweet potato is cooked through
  • Add the snow peas and stir through. Simmer for a further two to three minutes or until they are cooked
  • Serve with rice.
Bonus points: 5 minutes prep 20 minutes to cook Serves 4 (or just you, four nights in a row – can we get a hell yeah?) Thank goodness for Sharwood’s, we tell ya (or we’d probably be munching on that apple right now). Words by Lucille Burkitt
