Have potato skins for breakfast at South Brisbane’s newest café

You know what your mornings have always been missing? Potato skins. But it’s ok, because Ginger & Green is here to change that, with their cosy new South Brisbane café. From the same duo behind New Farm favourite, The Ponycat, Ginger & Green is tucked away in the up and coming SW1 precinct on Merivale Street. The café might be small, but they make the most of it with plenty of outdoor seating in their leafy courtyard – perfect for sunny morning brunching. But on to the menu – and oh what a menu it is! Nothing quite so ordinary as omelettes and buttermilk pancakes here, instead you’ll find so many creative dishes you won’t know where to start. Beef and jalepeño croquettes are paired with bacon jam and green Tabasco aioli while crispy potato skins are filled with shredded beef, gorgonzola and crispy prosciutto and served with fried eggs. Even good old eggs benny gets a twist with the option of shredded beef cheek to pair it with. ginger and green 2 As for the pancakes, you’ll be on a sugar high until at least noon after a stack of their double chocolate brownie numbers, with salted caramel, vanilla ice cream, chocolate soil, grilled banana and honeycomb. Holy chocolate. The breakfast menu is available all day, right up until 3pm, so if you prefer to leave your sugar hit until after noon, you’ll still be covered. If pancakes for lunch aren’t your deal, there’s also fresh sandwiches and rolls to tuck into, as well as takeaway salads, bagels, muffins and some seriously addictive brownies.
