With the Brisbane Comedy Festival looming we’ve basically taken March off for maximum lols, but there’s always a downside. We’re already freaking out about the imminent withdrawals we’ll be experiencing when March 25th rolls around and we’re left limp and laughless. Worry not, we’ve got the scoop on where will keep you in stitches all year round.

As authentic as the Paddo Parmy and as Queensland as Milton Mangos, the Sit Down Comedy club is a Brisbane institution. The OG laugh factory, it’s known as the comedy nursery of Brisbane, and there’s little reason why with local kids cutting their teeth (and letting their pride take a battering), and famous acts including Carl Barron, Hannibal Buress and Stephen K Amos taking centre stage. We’re there faster than you can say ‘hot chips.’

Admit it, you’ve had a giggle or two at the name of the venue (mind out of the gutter plebs!), but the Flying Cock is proving it’s not shy of a joke with their new comedy night – ‘You’re Joking’. Showcasing a side-splitting selection of homegrown comedians, guaranteed to have you wearing more beer than you buy. All about that audience participation? It’s your time to shine with Brisbane’s first ever interactive comedy game with ‘The Gong Show.’ Want to find out more? You’ll just have to check it out on Thursdays!

The home of the Brisbane Comedy Festival – it’s no wonder this is one venue we frequent on a Friday. Each week, a variety of local and international comedians put their talents (and dignity) on the line for our amusement (dance, monkey, dance!) with hilarious results. For comedy that’s free, funny and full of surprises – look no further than Knockoff on Fridays.

You know Heya Bar for killer karaage, cheeseburger spring rolls (we will literally RIOT if these ever get taken off the menu – take note), and ice-cold bevvies, but they’ve got something just as tasty in store for us. Wednesday nights see the bar transformed into comedy central with their open mike nights, as well as shows from comedy faves.

When you’re in the mood for giggles, guffaws and gags – G&G’s got you.
