Gastropub eats at the Pig ‘N’ Whistle
20 Aug 2015
Just beyond the hustle and bustle of busy shoppers in Indooroopilly Shopping Centre and close enough to the bus stop to make it all too convenient to have another drink, you’ll find the Pig ‘N’ Whistle, the west side’s favourite gastropub. Following in the footsteps of the shopping centre and undertaking a major development of their own, the legendary pub has a new look and some new flavours, channelling urban cool on their street-side patio and relaxed beer garden charm in the laneways behind. Many a locals’ favourite place for a brew and some classic pub grub, the venue has also added 2 new dining spots to Indooroopilly’s Station Road Dining precinct, with Pig’s Ear Wine and Grill serving up paddock-to-plate eats and Fish Feathers offering a menu full of delicious local seafood. The long-standing Phuc Deli-Viet has also had a bit of a face lift, with a larger dining space and all three converge with the Pig ‘N’ Whistle to create a five-ways of sorts that you could spend an entire day returning to in between shopping expeditions. Or stay in, if beer and sports on the big screens sounds far more appealing than endless shoe stores and dressing rooms. But back to the gastropub fare on offer at the Pig ‘N’ Whistle, because we know that’s what you really want to hear about. British pub classics are the star of the menu of course, with fish and chips, beef and Guinness pie and cheesy chicken parma, but you can also nibble on charcuterie and crispy chicken wings or tuck into international flavours like lamb rogan josh and Moroccan spice BBQ chicken. Add a beer and wine list that just goes on and on and a few cocktails that might tempt the girls in after their shopping (or before) and you have pretty much everything you could want in a suburban watering hole. Throw in trivia on a Tuesday night, pizza and Pimm’s jugs and you’re pretty much set. The Pig ‘n’ Whistle is open 7 days a week from 11am until late.
