Foodies making a mark on the Brisbane food scene

We’ve been thanking truck for Thank Truck it’s Thursdays at Wandering Cooks for yonks, but now the foodie hub is improving hump day as well, with their new Makers Markets taking over Wednesday nights. Every Wednesday from 5pm, a whole bunch of local food makers will be serving up delicious, ethically sourced food made from scratch. Think cooks who put their heart and soul into the food they create, including people like Danny’s Bread and Ugly Food & Co. Grab a plate of food and sit down with fellow food lovers for a dinner with a difference. Everything served up at these markets has a story to tell, whether it’s a tale of where the ingredients came from or of overcoming challenges to create what you get to wrap your lips around. Don’t be afraid to ask a few questions – these makers are definitely up for a chat! Different makers will make an appearance each week, but you can be sure they will all be dishing up drool-worthy food. As well as plenty of options for eats, there’ll also be a market chock full of local, organic dry goods to take home, and you can subscribe to the helpful people at Food Connect and pick up a box of fresh produce, too. You’ll even get to meet a talented ‘maker’ in a Meet the Maker session each week. Taste incredible local products and pick the brains of producers who create small batch goods right here in Brisbane. If your Wednesday nights aren’t the same without a wine or five, don’t worry, there’s a well stocked bar to keep you hydrated, with plenty of craft brews as well. Bringing together artisan food producers, chefs and the food lovers of Brisbane, the Wandering Cooks Makers Market is on every Wednesday from 5-9pm. Words by Ranyhyn Akui
