Chester Street gets a facelift with the arrival of Hello Gorgeous
Gorgeous is just the beginning.
February is more appeeling than my back after falling asleep at the beach.
Summer’s last month won’t phase out quietly, with plenty of boozy, brunchy and riversidey events that’ll be good to the last text to the ex.
Slip, slop, slap into something more breezy and make the most of the warm weather we’re all complaining about before gentle autumn chills sink in (and then we’ll have something new to complain about. Can’t wait).
If we had to name our child after something we love (without completely ruining their life), she’d be called Hazel. The glorious spread known as Nutella is celebrated every year on February 5, even though in our household it’s more like every other day. Whether you’re celebrating on the day, after the day or all of the above, every Nutella-based treat worth hunting down can be found right here. No, we will not make another joke about nuts.
West End’s own room with a view is re-launching Loft Saturdays after seven long years, so you better brace yourself for some fish bowls. Make history (again) by heading to the very first Saturday sesh on February 9 from 9:30pm, where you’ll be treated to DJ’s, a new menu of five swimmingly good fish bowl cocktails, and more. Free entry means more money for drinks, right?
Be salty – it’s what the marg would want. February 22 is Margarita Day, and Osbourne Hotel is throwing a zesty celebration from 6pm ’til late with Mexican food, a special margarita menu, and a live mariachi performance to top it all off. The best part? It’s all happening on a Friday! Rally the work team for some strawberry jalapeño margy bois and watch that morale skyrocket. It won’t tequilya.
Time to dine with the fantastic five. Brisbane’s iconic riverfront restaurant, Aria, has launched a taste of their menus best in the form of two glasses of award-winning wine, paired with five canapés from their development menu. A worthy $65 will land you the lot from 5:30pm-7pm twice a month. Hungry hands have already claimed every ticket from February 8’s event, but tickets are still available for February 22, so get busy and secure yours here. Aria really gonna let yourself miss out?
You loved slushies as a kid, but we bet you’ll love them even more now that you’re allowed boozy ones (literally the only good part of being an adult). X Cargo has taken two of your favourite things to create the mother of all drinks – the strawberry Rekordelig slushie. Garnished with a bit of mint, lime and an edible flower, you’ll be whipping it on the ‘gram like there’s no tomorrow. Go on then.
Not so little anymore. Little Big House is celebrating their first birthday from the 23rd-25th of February, with free entry for the entire three-day sesh! Saturday will see Balter Brewing Co. kick it at home with their Smiles All Round tour, alongside beats from Rhythm and Cutloose. Tuck into a Berocca and make it back for round two on Sunday, as a Jungle Giants DJ set will take you through the rest of the day. Everyday, you can expect free karaoke, and a menu’s worth of quality sips and eats to satisfy your hunger (for the love of our foodie god get the parmi spring rolls). Nothing quite like getting lit at a 1st birthday party.
You had me at gorgeous. Having just opened in the old Chester Street Bakery space, Hello Gorgeous has been busy baking up a new bar set to turn Brisbane’s social scene on its head. You HAVE to head down for signature cocktails and oyster shooters at the latest, greatest, greenest and most glamorous bar in Newstead. Lawd she’s stunning.
The latest party yacht to cruise through Brisbane and the GC is YOT Club! The team have been getting all hands on deck to ensure its first sesh is ready to set sail late February-early March, with plenty of space to drink, dance and occasionally dine (depending on the event). Two storeys of bars and plenty of room to sit or strut will let you live your best life on the water, with a private function space known as The Green Room that’s perfect for a baller birthday. We guess if you sell enough of your R.M. Williams collection for funds, you can just hire out the whole damn boat. Look at us, we are your captains now – keep an eye on the launch party date here.
S is for see me sipping under a cabana. Customs House’s latest pop-up is S is For Sundays, a balmy Sunday sesh complete with Chandon S cocktails, bites to match, and cabanas by the Brisbane River. Beside an open Sunday sesh, Customs House’s signature restaurant, Patina, will host bottomless Sunday brunches with everything from fried chicken waffles to the best pancakes you’ll ever have. Find out dates, times and every other detail here.
We’re still cool for the summer.
