Effervescence

  • Food & Booze
If your bubbles obsession is on the same level as the little yellow fish from Finding Nemo, we’ve got the perfect festival suggestion for you. Of course, when we say bubbles, we’re talking about the sweet, sweet adult bubbles known as champagne. Effervescence is a festival dedicated to the very thing, so start figuring out who’s stuck with being the designated driver and get ready to pop a lot of corks! After its success in 2016, Effervescence is back for its second year at Spicers Hidden Vale on August 13. With tasting stations from more than 25 houses, including well-known grower houses and over 60 cuvees, you’ll be seeing a lot of sparkle (and a lot of drunk people in dressy clothing). Of course, there will be an array of tasty eats to pair with the champers, or to subdue the level of silly that you may not want to reach. If no one wants to be the designated driver (we wouldn’t blame you), the event offers $30 return coaches from Brisbane, Toowoomba and the Gold Coast. If you really can’t hack the trip home, you can take advantage of the accommodation at Spicers (passing out in a field is not recommended). Ditch the water and revel in a day filled with champagne showers. Further details can be found here. Words by Nicole Portacha
