Eats & Beats

  • Food & Booze
It’s time for the coast to meet the city, picking up everyone in between, and what would the most obvious central meeting place be? IKEA, duh.  Forget about travelling to IKEA to only pick up the latest interior addiction or satisfying your secret obsession for those $1 hotdogs because there is bigger news in town.  The Eats & Beats urban food truck fest’s inaugural pop up is being hosted in the IKEA Logan forecourt for a night of, you guessed it, eats and beats. With a line-up of food for you to feast upon including King of the Wings, Little Back, Sushi Neko, Vira Lata, Fiery Deli, Local, Viva Paella, Pizzantica and Puerto Taco, choosing what to munch on will be almost as difficult as navigating IKEA’s maze of household furniture is.  And for anyone worried about not being able to reach and conquer every delectable delight after enduring the daily grind at work or school, The Coffee Club will be open nearby offering a refuel of the caffeine kind. brisbane food trucks eats beats 2Now that the ‘eats’ has been sorted out, let’s not forget about those ever-important ‘beats’. Once you find yourself with a tasty treat (or three) in hand, locate the perfect place to sit and enjoy the smooth sounds from a talented bunch of local artists. They’ll be dishing up entertainment all night so don’t despair if your hunger creeps back up and tears you away from the stage. Make a reminder now to keep the 27th of March free and also to wear loose clothing in preparation for three and half hours (starting from 5:30pm) of Brisbane’s food truck and music scene. With free entry and free undercover parking, the only thing left to organise is whether you want to solo soldier this event or rally a group of friends together. Words by Suzanne McLaughlin
