Eat your way through the Mt Gravatt Marketta

We love markets dedicated to food. It sure is a treat for all the senses, but for all you south siders, the trek over to Eat Street can sometimes cause road rage that not even a cronut or five can solve. But don’t let the hanger take over on a Saturday night, because the Mt Gravatt Marketta is here to save your stomachs. Straight off the success from the Gold Coast’s Miami Marketta, this weekly event has found a home at the Mt Gravatt Showgrounds, with mouth-watering street food and live music every Saturday from 4-10pm. Under the stars, with a sprinkling of fairy lights (but don’t worry – there’s plenty of weather proof space!), it’s the perfect date night plan, but only if your plus one is ok with you stealing bites of their dinner. With foodie legends like Barbecue Mafia, The Frying Piggy and King of the Wings serving up their famed treats, there’s something for every taste bud. The Good Food Catering Co, Little Havana Food Truck, Surf Burger Food Truck, Mussel Brothers and Little Wahaca have also made a date with Mt Gravatt, which means an almighty food baby awaits you. To wash down all of this deliciousness, try a craft beer or two at the bar or a white hot chocolate if you’re feeling the chill. Then there’s our favourite meal of the day – dessert. Whether you brave the cold with Heven-ya’s gelato or delight your inner child with the sweet ’n’ salty popcorn from The Popcorn Man, you’re sure in for a sweet treat. Work off those extra calories by grooving to the live music, or by just making a couple extra laps around the grounds on your quest for the perfect feed. Make your way to the Mt Gravatt Showgrounds at 1644 Logan Road every Saturday from 4pm to 10pm, and bring along $2 for entry for anyone older than 16. Northern dwellers, get ready to cross the river for the Mt Gravatt Marketta! We challenge you to tick every stall off your list. Words by Georgia Tyler
