Declare your independence with brews and tunes this weekend!
29 Jun 2016
Tired of trying to work out who the Prime Minister is and listening to politicians take over our airwaves and mailboxes this week? Well it’s time to declare your independence and celebrate some star-spangled freedom as Buffalo Bar kick off their 4th of July celebrations early for the weekend with the Festival of the Free! The main event will be happening on Saturday, when the bar will open up their neighboring laneway to make way for the Laneway Tailgate Party, complete with pop-up Coors and Blue Moon bars and live bands The Sugarshakers and Howlin’ Time until late. Grab yourself a few baskets of wings, order an American brew and find yourself a prime spot to crack Trump jokes and bust a jig all night long (after you’ve voted of course – we’re not completely unpatriotic). Then, keep those feelings of all-American freedom flying into Sunday with Buffalo’s Independence Day feast or register a team for Seinfeld trivia. Feasters can expect a three course menu of your favourite American fare, including Buffalo’s signature wings and smoked beef brisket finished with warm apple pie, all for $65pp. If you’ve got a Statue of Liberty sized hanger after your partying the night before, hand over $15 and try your appetite on the Lady Liberty Challenge, a 5 stack Wagyu cheeseburger – there’s a $100 up for grabs if you’re a winner! Patriotic costumes are, of course, strongly encouraged. We suggest: Trump, Lady Liberty or just good old fashioned stars and stripes. Buffalo Bar’s Festival of the Free runs from Friday 1 to Sunday 3 July – and remember, it’s not over until the fat lady sings! Words by Jessica Gregory
