Valentine's Day in Brisbane

Valentine's Day: Thursday 14th February, 2019

We might be more sarcastic than sappy, but we’re romantics deep down in our cold, black hearts.

Valentine’s Day is for the lovers, and we’ve got the scoop on all things coupley for everyone from soulmates to tinder dates.

Ovolo | Spring Hill

You had me at Ovohello. The Ovolo Inchcolm has been busier than Santa’s elves coming up with gifts for adults of all sorts this Valentine’s Day. The question is – are you naughty, or nice? The nicer of you will be happy to know that a pleasantly PG Adult Happy Meal will be curated by Chef Andy Ashby, featuring a five-course tasting menu with paired beverages and a special take home couples gift at the end of the night.

As for the naughty, you get to see Chef Andy come back as a food dom, whipping the likes of Murray gold cod, local cuttlefish and aromatic broth and peaches and crème into shape. As for your end of night gift, you might want to take this one upstairs (a hotel room for Valentine’s Day? Just think of the brownie points). We’ll let your imagination take you there, but getting tickets here will also help with that.

Donna Chang | CBD

From the moment you see Donna Chang’s Valentine’s Day dishes, you’ll fall. Their very first V-Day dinner definitely won’t be their last, as four courses with the option to add signature matched wines might just win every couple’s hearts in Brisbane. Set in the chic venue, lathered in pastel tones with high ceilings that grand chandeliers call home, 2019 is your year to live out a luxurious romantic fantasy right on your doorstep. All those gourmet eats are just a bite-sized $98, or $40 extra if you’d like to add wine (and that’s always a big yes). Contact the reservations team on 07 3243 4888 or via info@donnachang.com.au to secure your spot!

Valentine's Day in Brisbane

Aria | Eagle Street Pier

It’ll be love at first bubbles when you’re greeted by a glass of champagne at Aria. This golden start to Valentine’s Day in Brisbane will only get better, as a decadent three-course meal is next on the menu (Matt Moran knows what the people want). Whether you’re then admiring views of the Story Bridge or the wine list (the Good Food Guide’s 2018 winning wine list, mind you), everything will feel right in the world, meaning you probably forgot to lock your front door at home. Nothing can go that smoothly. Tickets are a sweet $160 per person + BF, which you can secure here.

Ristorante La Famiglia | Woolloongabba

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s Ristorante La Famiglia. Your amore will adore an authentic Italian selection for dinner (or lunch for those of you lucky lovers with little ones!), especially since without a set menu, the choice is all yours! Everything from pizza to pasta and cannoli will be yours for the taking, with the option to choose three courses for $79 per person and receive a complimentary glass of Prosecco on arrival. It’s the ultimate win win. Bookings are essential, and you can call 3391 1045 to make that happen!

From 7pm at Victoria Park Bistro on Feb 14, “love throughout the ages” trivia will make you listen to your heart for answers to all things Love Actually, Romeo and Juliet, and real-life renowned romances (heck, even the passionate bromance between Buzz and Woody). After nailing game one, turn your attention to putt putt for game two, or hang back at the bistro for blissful bites and cocktails with your V-Day date. What you pay depends on what you play. Trivia is free (!!), and the rest is up to you. For the love of special occasions, treat yo’self (or for the love of not wanting to end up in the dog house).

Osbourne Hotel | Fortitude Valley

Love fine food but hate the idea of going to the fanciest restaurant in town? Your friendly neighbourhood Osbourne Hotel is offering a gorgeous Lover’s Feast in their laidback (yet extremely lovely and mood-lit) space. A quick hot tip: never let your mum show up on a date. Mumm on the other hand… At 5:30pm, you’ll be greeted by a glass of the very motherly champagne, followed by an entree, main and dessert of your choice, with a live acoustic artist being the cherry on top of a romantic evening. It’s a delicious $65, so book your table here.

Single? Join the Lonely Hearts Club. Osbourne Hotel hasn’t forgotten about the lovelorn, letting you scrap scrolling through Tinder and mumbling disappointment through Bumble in exchange for dating the good old fashioned way. A cheap and chipper $25 will land you a glass of Pimm’s on arrival (7pm), action cards to create and receive mystery messages from fellow singles, gourmet canapés, and potentially the love of your life. Get tickets here.
