Cowch dessert bar opens in South Bank

  • Food & Booze
There’s a sweet-tooth’s sugary, creamy heaven on Grey Street which will revolutionise the dessert game in South Bank, no bull. The quirkily named Cowch is the first of its kind in Queensland: a dessert cocktail bar that can fulfil every craving throughout the day. Need a 7am coffee? Just drop by.  Midday pancake feast required? You’re covered. In the mood for a decadent, chocolatey cocktail? You’re in luck. The over-excited child within is just busting to get their hands on the novelty-ridden ‘naked pops’: an ice cream on a stick which is then all yours to douse in silky white, milk or dark chocolate and customise with nibbly bits such as chocolate pearls, berries and mini marshmallows. There’s even a raw seed mix for the health conscious. cowchdessertbarnakedpopWhat more could you want? Trust me, we’re just grazing the surface (of the cow puns too. I’m milking this for all its worth.) The real fun comes when you tell your inner child to move over and feast your eyes on the ‘Adults Only’ menu. Infinitely more tasteful (in every way) than other lists by that name, the grown-ups section includes boozy guilty pleasures such as honey and rum grilled bananas served with vanilla bean ice-cream. And then there are the cocktails. cowchdessertbarcocktailChocolate lovers will suffer decision anxiety – to go the smooth Mint Delight with Creme de Menthe, Creme de Cao, cream and chocolate shavings? Or the rich After Dinner With Chocolate consisting of chocolate bitters, vodka, chocolate liqueur and Creme de Cacao? As if the 9-to-5-ability of Cowch wasn’t enough to make you want to stay forever, the venue itself seals the deal. Get ready for extravagant colours accented with low lighting, lots of ‘cowches’ and – wait for it – a fire pit. Just in time for warming your toes when winter gets fresian (sorry, not sorry). Cowch is open seven days from 7am until late.  Words by Jessimin Horder
