Cocktails taste better with a view

  • Food & Booze

Engage all your senses, especially taste and sight, when planning your next cocktail outing. Remember the old Fox Hotel rooftop? You know, the typical Sunday watering hole? Forget that, because after six months of extensive renovations, the new Fox has an edgy agenda. Feast your eyes on the 1970s tennis-inspired rooftop garden bar, Dandys. We guess you could say the view is mighty ‘dandy’ from this five-storey inner-city retreat! Colourful birdcages, bright patio furniture and hanging white pendants line the open-air space, making it the perfect spot for your summer soirees. Dandys’ speciality ginger beer is served up by bartenders dressed in tennis whites from head to toe. Their very own signature brew of freshly pressed ginger and secret ale spice mix is churned in Dandys’ slushie machine with Gosling’s Black Seal and fresh citrus. Ace! You’ll be begging for the Fox’s autograph if you dare to order the Tennis ‘Fan’ Treacle. Expect a butter popcorn infused Pampero Blanco stirred with wet brown sugar, freshly pressed apple juice and chocolate bitters. Served short with a huge apple fan and fresh popcorn! Other themed favourites include the Bramble Sharapova, Serena’s Cerveza, and Suicider Mojito a.k.a The Andre Agassi. The South Brisbane function venue plans to eventually serve up rotisserie-style char grilled steaks and seafood. Not to mention the amazing function rooms. That’s game, set, match.   Lauren Maynard
