Cheap eats #23

  • Food & Booze
Did your silly season start a little early this year and kick off last weekend when you found yourself lining shots up at the bar at 3am on Saturday morning? Have you booked your rooftop Riverfire and your Melbourne Cup garden party already and are left wondering what you’re going to eat this week, let alone how your going to pay for all those cab fares? Well, we haven’t got any Uber discount codes to share with you, but we can tell you where to get a cheap feed. Gerard’s Bar | Fortitude Valley Need a reason to smile on hump day? Gerard’s Bar will give you one, with a delicious $15 ramen and Saké combo. Made entirely in-house, with free-range, macadamia-fed braised pork, soy pickled egg, nori, and green onion, the hand-made Tonkotsu-style ramen will have you (and your wallet) slurping away as happy as a pig in mud. Fancy for the low price tag, right? Not to mention the perfectly paired traditional warm Saké that comes with it. Available until sold out from 3pm every Wednesday, mid-week just became noodles of fun. The Milk Factory | South Brisbane Cheap parma is always a crowd pleaser, but cheap gourmet parma is The Milk Factory’s best kept secret, with a Thursday night deal that would make Clive proud. Available for lunch and dinner every Thursday, the $10 parma can be chicken or eggplant (no forgetting the vegos here) and comes with rocket salad, but let’s be honest, it’s the oozing Napoli sauce, mozzarella cheese and prosciutto that really gets your attention, plus the side of crispy chips. With live music every Thursday as well, make sure you milk this deal for all it’s worth. You might even be able to afford to make the weekend a triple hitter! Don’t worry, we’ll get you through the silly season with cheap eats in Brisbane. Words by Moira Kennedy
