Brisbane’s very own international coffee superstar

Di Bella Coffee. The name just rolls off the tongue, conjuring up images of rolling Italian hills and tiny cups of espresso, right? Well it might surprise you to know that far from being from the land of pizza and pasta, Di Bella Coffee is roasted, blended and distributed right here in Brisbane and has been ever since it started as a small, family owned business just over a decade ago. The baby of Phillip Di Bella, a barista with a head (and a degree) for business and a passion for coffee, has fast become one of Australia’s favourite coffees. You can now get your Di Bella cuppa everywhere from your local café, the online store or the ever so convenient drive-thru store in Brisbane. Drive-thru gourmet coffee? Genius. No wonder the guy is on the BRW Young Rich list. But the business is still small at heart, with two of Di Bella’s coffee blends even named after his own children. The Arnika Reserve is a medium dark roast with a peppery and spicy dark chocolate aroma, while the heavy Ali Reserve has hints of citrus and cinnamon. If you’re more a single origin latte kinda coffee addict, there’s four to choose from, with the most popular being a smooth Brazilian bean. All Di Bella beans are sourced directly from farmers, whether they’re in Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Kenya or Ethiopia, with a Crop to Cup program that helps farming communities with employment, healthcare and education and also supports ethically sustainable farming practices. So that end cup of black gold isn’t just warming your hands, it’ll warm your heart too. Awww. As if that wasn’t enough to entice you into heading to the Brisbane roasting warehouse (we’re already halfway there) to pick up beans and get a whiff of that heavenly coffee aroma, they’ve got some treats that will make the trip even sweeter. Chocolate on a spoon to make for a real hot chocolate drinking experience? Chocolate-coated coffee beans, frappe mixes and cold brewed coffee? You’ll be lucky if you can leave at all.  You’ll find the Di Bella roasting house and retail store (and that drive-thru café) at 82 Abbotsford Road, Bowen Hills, open Monday to Friday from 7am-5pm and Saturday from 8am-3pm. All their beans and other products are also available online. But rest assured that we only work with businesses that we think are really nifty, as the sponsor for this post is!
