Brisbane’s most spirited spot for a cocktail masterclass
10 Oct 2016
Planning a shindig but don’t want to just have the same old drinks in a bar you plan every time you have a birthday, Christmas party or hen’s night in Brisbane? What if we told you about a spot where you’ll get to learn a little something, shake up your cocktail making skills and discover your new favourite tipples, all in the same night? You might already know Riverbar & Kitchen for their scrumptious bar bites and flirty cocktails, not to mention the epic riverside views, but take in one of their cocktail masterclasses and you’ll get better acquainted with the bar than ever! And don’t worry, you don’t have to wait until you’ve mixed your first drink to get the party started at this lesson, you’ll get a cocktail as soon as you walk in, as your own private cocktail mixologist tells you a few bartender secrets that will have you mixing up drinks like a pro. Every guest gets their own personal set up of shakers, cups, strainers and shot glasses, and you’ll soon find out who worked in a bar in their younger days when the pouring and shaking starts! Amidst plenty of ribald jokes about martini glass rims and the perfect shaking technique (perfect hen’s night activity, right?), your mixologist will take you through the steps of two classic cocktails. As long as you listen carefully instead of being distracted by your neighbour’s interesting pouring method, you’ll whip yourself up a tasty sip! Now, there’s no need to knock those drinks back in a hurry when the class is over either – book in for a masterclass with canapes ($90pp), or a two course shared menu ($120), and you can keep the party going with delicious eats in your own private area as you savour those cocktails. You could just take in the masterclass ($65pp) and then find a riverside table to enjoy the views, of course – but we’d definitely suggest lining the stomach with bites like lamb sliders, kingfish tostadas and crispy fried calamari! So whether you’re trying to find the perfect location for a hen’s night, a birthday affair or even an office team building activity that doesn’t involve strange activities with paperclips and whiteboards, get in touch with Riverbar & Kitchen. Their cocktail masterclasses are available for groups of 5-20, and can be booked for lunch or dinner from Saturday-Thursday. We’re thinking weekend lunches just got a whole lot more interesting – but you can check out all the options here.
