Brisbane’s most blissful breakfasts have arrived

If there’s one Brisbane café that knows how to get us excited about eating our greens and getting in some wholegrains, it’s Miss Bliss Wholefoods Café. Even after just twelve months on the dining scene, they’ve managed to convince us that yes, kale can be a delicious breakfast food, and when it comes to sides for our eggs, the more vegetables the better. Still, when it came to their winter menu, we were a little skeptical. Are kale chips and chia jam really as warm and soul-satisfying as our beloved baked eggs and pancakes on a chilly morning? The answer, friends, is yes, they are. Stop shaking your head and feast your unbelieving eyes on dishes that won’t just leave you satisfied, but might just undo some of the damage you did with that bottle of wine last night to boot. The all day menu features nutritious feeds packed with goodness, so you can feel good about stuffing your face. Miss Bliss new menu 2 Tuck into plates like the vegan chai pumpkin waffles with caramelized banana, maple coconut yoghurt and toasted nuts, or a nourishing bowl of seasonal roasted vegetables, lentils, parmesan, cashew pesto and a gooey egg. And don’t worry – you can always add bacon if breakfast isn’t breakfast without it. If it’s more a lunchtime feed you’re after, one of the blissful burgers will cure any hunger. Carnivores can wrap their hands around slow cooked beef brisket with crispy speck and cheddar, while herbivores are covered with the tamari field mushrooms and eggplant stack. There’s plenty of drinks to pair your meal with (or just drink on their own – those smoothies are mighty filling!), with cold pressed juices, kefirs and sparkling sodas from BNE Soda Co. We ourselves can confirm they have one of the best almond milk coffees in town, and there’s even coffee alternatives like turmeric and coconut lattes and organic chais if your last 3 cups of java left you a little jittery. Have we convinced you to make your next breakfast or lunch a little more blissful? We knew we would. You’ll find Miss Bliss Wholefoods Café at 85 Vulture Street, West End, open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch. Words by Ranyhyn Akui
