Brisbane's freshest takeaway lunches

Is your lunch usually a sad, uninspiring affair involving some form of soggy leaves, or perhaps a container of leftovers that’s more likely to leave you curling your upper lip than hitting the lunch room at 11.59 in anticipation? Well it’s time to stop picking all the meat out of your salad and leaving the greenery behind, because Brisbane has been graced with some delicious takeaways – and not just the average burger and fries. Although, we do like burgers. And fries for that matter. Enjoy wholesome meals without the post-lunch food baby (and clean up) in the comfort of your own desk (or couch if you’re so inclined). Check out our favourites below. Kwan Brothers | Fortitude Valley OCD types will be in heaven over Kwan Brothers perfectly separated lunch elements in their bento boxes. Opt for pork, tofu or chicken and get yourself a bao bun, pineapple fried rice, a delicious salad and a side – bonus, you can even get it delivered. Sassafras | Paddington Ever wished you still lived at home with a doting mum to pack your lunch box with fresh rolls, homemade quiches and sweet treat surprises? Dream no longer – Sassafras is your mum’s loving replacement. Their daily canteen menu will have you lying to her about how good your lunches are – you don’t want her getting jealous. The Fishery | Milton Talk about catch of the day! The Fishery’s daily lunch specials read like a fishermans basket. Red emperor, mackerel, salmon, swordfish – all grilled to perfection and served up with crispy chips and salad. You could get the battered version – but we’re pretty sure your waistline says no. Loaded Food Co | Red Hill Whilst the freshly made rice paper rolls and frittatas are what you should probably be picking up at this haven of takeaway, it’s their sausage rolls that always call our name. Crisp and flaky pastry is just the beginning when it comes to these bad boys – and you can always get them with a side of salad, right? takeaway lunch brisbane cbd zeusZeus Street Greek | South Bank Whether your willpower is strong enough to resist a serve of chocolate honey puffs or not, you’ll find a lunch to have you channelling Zeus at this Grecian spot. Our pick: the crispy pork and slaw filled Papou Niko. Green Grocer | CBD Prepacking sandwiches is never a good idea. No matter how much cheese you carefully lay between the bread and the tomato, cucumber and mayo, by noon you’re left with a soggy mess. Let the Green Grocer’s sandwich artists whip you up a fresh one instead – their cheese laying skills are better than yours anyway. Dumpling Republic | Wintergarden Nothing says fresh like a bamboo basket full of just steamed dumplings, especially when they are hand made by Dumpling Republic’s dumpling experts! The contemporary Asian eatery is the perfect choice for anyone who needs a speedy lunch (so they can cram in some shopping before going back to the office, maybe). Pamela’s Pantry | Petrie Terrace Pamela’s Pantry is like our second home. The only difference between their home and ours is that they don’t fuss about with frivolities like bedrooms and lounge rooms. They dedicate themselves to an honest, divine kitchen that will cure you of your sweet craving and lunchtime tummy rumbles with pies, quiches and scrumptious curries. Two Wheels and a Handlebar | Milton It’s seriously impressive how Two Wheels and a Handlebar manages to come up with a delicious new menu every day – with not a single option that doesn’t make us drool. The only downside is not being able to go back for our favourites – we could really go for another box of that pulled pork ragu.
