Brisbane’s first gnoccheria has arrived

  • Food & Booze
It’s all about the gnocchi at Paddington’s newest dining spot – and oh what gnocchi it is. Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers have upgraded from their market stalls and pop-ups around town to a cosy bricks and mortar restaurant on Given Terrace, with more gnocchi on the menu than ever before. All made fresh in house daily, this gnocchi isn’t the starchy, gluggy pasta of your childhood – it’s fluffy, melt-in-the-mouth and served up in flavoursome house made sauces. Out the back in the gnocchi production line, organic potatoes from Tasmania are peeled and mashed before being turned into the brothers famous gnocchi, ready to be served up in one of their six delicious sauces. Some of you will probably already be familiar with a few of the menu items – their wild mushroom and truffle sauce has made the cut, along with the traditional slow cooked bolognese sauce. But there’s a few new flavours on the cards, including slow cooked duck ragu and a fresh prawn and cherry tomato sauce that will have gnocchi loves flocking to Paddington for more. gnocchi-gnocchi-2Alongside every bowl you’ll get fresh ciabatta bread to mop up all that delicious sauce, with gluten free gnocchi also available at no extra cost. And at $12 a bowl, this is one dinner that won’t break the bank. Spend all those savings on a side of deep fried mince stuffed olives, thick cut potato chips with truffle salt or a fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil caprese salad with mozzarella all the way from Napoli – and this creamy mozzarella is worth a trip to the gnoccheria all on it’s own. If you’ve still got room, vanilla panna cotta, ricotta cannoli or tiramisu will sate any left over cravings, and the venue is BYO until a liquor license is finalized. There’s other plans afoot, including takeaway cones of deep fried olives and chips for football games at the nearby stadium, and take home packs of gnocchi – but you’ll have to be patient for those. In the meantime, you’ll find Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers at 210 Given Terrace, with doors open on Monday 28 November for dinner 7 nights a week. Words by Ranyhyn Akui
