Brisbane venues serving up good karma

We all need a healthy dose of good news.

With the hospitality industry in crisis and most people adapting to a housebound lifestyle, it’s hard to ignore the bad news constantly circulating.

Thanks to these Brisbane venues, though, there are plenty of good vibes and great acts going around to lift the spirits!

Pay-it-forward | Miss Bliss and Kin & Co

Miss Bliss and Kin & Co have devised a simple way for people to support healthcare workers and the elderly, and it’s as easy as jumping online and completing an order! While Miss Bliss has now suspended meal orders for the public, you can still donate by purchasing soups and risotto for those who need it here, but Kin & Co is still up-and-running for takeaway orders, and you can donate by purchasing a voucher online, or paying a little extra when you pick-up in person.

Help feed hospital staff | Billykart

The owners of Billykart, Ben O’Donoghue and Ben Roberts, caught wind that local hospital staff would benefit from the boost of a restaurant-prepared meal while doing their literally life-saving work, so they’ve set up a gofundme to deliver meals from their kitchen, direct to the hospitals where much-needed help is being provided! Billykart Kitchen in Annerley and Billykart West End also remain open for takeaway family meals, pantry goods, coffee, and booze.

Meals for hospitality workers | Joy

As if their game-changing degustation setup wasn’t enough, Sarah and Tim Scott are showing the best side of the hospitality industry, giving away fresh food every couple of days to hospo workers who have been hit hard by venue closures. While they responsibly advise people not to come out for social trips, we’re sure a familiar face and chat from someone in a similar position are doing wonders right now—onya, Tim and Sarah. Discounts for healthcare workers | Il Verde and P’Nut Street Noodles

King Street’s pasta-masters are showing their appreciation for healthcare workers, offering 50% off their bill! Regular folk can also enjoy 30% off all online orders using the code ILVERDE30, or order over the phone on 3638 0494. Hot tip? Their delicious house wines are going for $16 a bottle! Meanwhile, P’Nut Street Noodles (in South Bank, Windsor, and Bulimba), is also offering 50% off the bill for “healthcare heroes”, to thank them for taking care of us in this stressful time!

Hand sanitiser for healthcare workers | Brisbane Distillery

What’s sure to keep healthcare workers in good spirits? Bulk hand sanitiser, of course! Brisbane Distillery has repurposed their equipment to manufacture hand sanitiser, which medical personnel can purchase 20 litres of at a heavily discounted rate. For the average Joe, you can grab 5L, 2L, or 500mL of the stuff—and you’d be silly not to add a bottle of Brisbane Distillery’s vodka, gin, or rhum to your cart too!
