Where to dine on Christmas Day 2019
Ah Christmas, rearing your beautiful head for another year! We are all big fans of the festive season, but not big fans of the chaos that can often ensue. Don’t worry, Brisbane… we’ve got your back.
Not a cook? Don’t feel like doing the washing up? No worries — leave it to the pros. Hark, some of Brisbane’s best Christmas lunch and dinner spots.
The Regatta Hotel | Toowong
She is beauty, she is grace, she is the grand lady of Brisbane… and she knows how to put on a damn good Chrissy lunch! The annual Christmas luncheon in the Boatshed is one of the best events going around, and it’s not hard to see why. The four-course affair includes some absolute classics, like shared entrees of local prawns with cocktail sauce and a Boatshed tasting board. The main course is a choice of roast turkey, beef Wellington or Atlantic salmon, before shared Christmas pudding and pavlova for dessert and cheese to finish. It’s not Christmas without some booze, and this luncheon includes a three-hour beverage package to keep things ~festive~. Book your table here, stat!
Lennons at Next Hotel | CBD
It’s set to be a very merry Christmas at Lennons! Nestled in the popular Next Hotel on Queen St, the award-winning Lennons Restaurant and Bar is excited to make your Christmas utterly effortless and entirely memorable. The lunch menu is overflowing with Aussie Christmas staples, featuring an entree share platter of oysters, prawns and scallop ceviche, and your choice of crispy skin salmon, turkey and cranberry roulade or an eye fillet with mushroom gratin for mains. We can guarantee the only stressful part of your day will be picking which dessert to indulge in, with a traditional Christmas pudding or the summer berry trifle both looking absolutely delightful. Thank you, Next (Hotel)! Reserve your seat at the Christmas Day table here.
Black Fire | CBD
Feliz Navidad! How does a Spanish/Mediterranean Christmas sound? This three-course, share-style feast is overflowing with punchy flavours and is perfect for the whole fam. Tapas-style entrees include grilled chorizo bruschetta, yellowfin tuna and goat cheese mousse, and roasted baby peppers stuffed with prawn and crab. Meat-lovers, prepare to start drooling as the star of the show is brought out. We’re talking a main course featuring slow-roasted suckling pig and suckling lamb with all the Spanish-style trimmings you could ask for. Spanish dessert canapes will finish your meal with a bang, as you wash everything down with a signature Black Fire sangria jug, or a tasty Christmas Cheer cocktail. Tickets are only $80pp and can be purchased here.
Il Centro | CBD
Il Centro is doing something particularly special for Christmas this year, and it’s set to be very tasty — an Italian-style Christmas lunch with all the trimmings, including some of Il Centro’s most delicious signature dishes. We’re talking the famous sand crab lasagna as one of the entree choices, before a range of main course choices including quail stuffed with nduja, pine nuts and cranberries served with medley heirloom tomato, peperonata, fried spinach and ricotta gnocchi. There is no better way to end Christmas lunch than by digging straight into an Italian traditional panettone served with mascarpone cream, fresh cherry and Nutella gelato. Goldfinch | CBD
Relaxed Christmas day buffet lunch. Smashed pavlova station. Need we say more? The inner-city oasis that is Goldfinch is putting together a family-friendly feast, with no detail spared. You’ll be absolutely spoilt for choice, with bread, soup, vast cold and hot offerings, fresh seafood and 11 (eleven!!!!) desserts to choose from! Oh, and we have it on good authority that Santa Claus may pop by to say hi to the kids (if they’ve been good, of course). We recommend not wearing your tight jeans. We also recommend booking your spot, here.
Make our wish come true… all we want for Christmas is food.
Keeping the G&G up to date with tasty tidbits requires a lot of lattes and espresso martinis, so we occasionally need to give out some sponsored love. Rest assured that we only work with businesses that we think are really nifty, as the sponsor for this post is!
