It’s 7/7 and we’re wishing for fooooood.

Today marks one of the most important days on our calendars… World Chocolate Day. This week we’re also pumped for some tasty new menus, online foodie events and an IRL chocolate festival! Turns out dreams really can come true…

You’re gonna wanna be free next Tuesday, July 14 when e’cco Bistro’s Philip Johnson hops online to share some cooking tips for an at-home masterclass. Teaming up with Miele Australia and Haven Newstead, the free live stream will be broadcast via Haven Newstead’s Facebook page. Johnson will be showing us how to master his one-pan chicken, with a fine apple tart tutorial to follow. We can’t guarantee what we create will be anywhere near as good as his, but we’ll give it a red hot crack. 

We love a pub feed. So when we heard the iconic West End pub The Boundary Hotel recently welcomed a new head chef, our ears certainly pricked up! Andrew Musk–who has previously manned the kitchens of the Gold Coast’s Palazzo Versace, Noosa’s Ricky’s River Bar & Restaurant, and Howard Smith Wharves–brings a fresh new menu with him to The Boundary! We’re talking classic pub dishes (burgers, steaks, schnitties) alongside elevated dishes like spicy lamb ribs, poached prawn rolls, and roasted cauliflower with romesco, labneh, pomegranate and almonds.

This Bastille Day is set to look a little different from other years, but Le Festival isn’t letting that stop them from throwing the biggest French party of the year! From Monday, July 14 until Sunday, July 19, Le Festival will be hosting a number of free online events and webinars to celebrate the occasion. Obviously, we’re most excited for pastry chef Julien Sion to show us some handy tips for the perfect croissant, as well as an online history lesson all about Champagne! Another event heading online this year is the Ekka! From August 7 to 16, you can enjoy all your favourite things about the Ekka from the comfort of your living room. We know your actual favourite thing is the food–and we’ve got you covered in that department! There will be several drive-through foodie pop-ups at the Brisbane Showgrounds and on King Street, so you can pick up a dagwood dog and a strawberry sundae! If you’re a superfan of those strawberry sundaes (we are!), you can even purchase a DIY strawberry sundae kit, so you can get scooping yourself! 

This week (July 6-12), Portside Wharf is celebrating all things chocolate, with a stack of specials to mark World Chocolate Day! Think chocolate tacos from Burrito Bar, Nutella pizza from Gusto da Gianni, and chocolate-filled sambousek pastry from Byblos Bar–just a few of many, many chocolatey offerings at Portside! 

These jeans are feeling tighter already, and we don’t really care.
