Word on the street: foodie news

The cob life chose us.

Another week, another load of hella tasty food news coming your way, Brisbane! We’re excited about some of the very best bars and eateries reopening (with some amazing offerings), and we think you will be too…

One of our absolute favourite riverside spots, Riverbar & Kitchen has just re-opened, and they just so happen to be bringing back one of our absolute favourite specials! 2019’s WinterFest saw Brisbane introduced to the beauty of Riverbar’s cheesy pizza cob loaf, and it’s making its return this week. Grab the squad, chill out by Riverbar’s fire pits and order a couple of cobs and signature lychee mojito jugs and you have yourself the perfect night. All of our pestering (and a few mild threats) worked! Cob days are here, baby!

Staying riverside, we’re happy to announce that the gorgeous Blackbird is back, too! For the first time ever, Blackbird is opening up its al fresco bar area for dining (for a limited time), with the full restaurant menu available to order outside. Soak up the river views while you hoe into a shellfish platter or a signature wood-grilled steak and feel boujee as hell. You earned it.

Changing pace (and heading to gourmand wonderland), popular Korean chook spot NeNe Chicken has an exciting special coming up to mark National Fried Chicken Day. Monday, July 6 will see six-packs of Nene’s wingettes and drumettes drop to just $3.95! Tasty flavours include snowing cheese, chilli or vegetable, alongside a range of epic sides. We’re saying a big NeNe (yes, yes) to a six-pack alongside a tornado potato or two!

El Camino Cantina’s doors will swing open tomorrow, June 17, to the delight of Tex-Mex lovers across town. Unfortunately for them, their first day back in business will involve watching us stuffing our faces with 10 cent wings as part of their Wing Wednesday special. Sorry, not sorry!

Alongside El Camino, Beerhaüs and WingHAÜS are also set to open their doors tomorrow, meaning lots of celebratory beers, BBQ’d meats and chicken wings are about to be consumed. Swing by WingHAÜS on Edward Street between 5pm and 7pm, Monday-Friday, and you can nab 50-cent wings alongside $5 side dishes–we’re talking deep-fried pickles, giant pretzels, potato gems and onion rings.

Maybe 2020 isn’t so cursed after all.
