Living our tastiest life.

This week we’re enjoying Brisbane’s finest, including punchy new menus at some of The Valley’s hottest spots, award-winning steaks by the river, and luxe lobster lunches out west. Bring it on.

The Calile Hotel’s Lobby Bar has an acclaimed chef taking the helm–Former Urbane and The Euro head chef Andrew Gunn. Boasting years of experience in a range of cuisines, Gunn not only brings his talent to The Lobby Bar, but a fresh new menu, too! Consisting of hearty breakfast plates, light lunch options and evening tapas, the seasonal produce-fuelled menu takes inspiration from around the world. Our reccs? Shakshuka for breakfast, confit duck baguette for lunch and those fresh fish tacos and scallop ceviche with leche de tigre when the sun sets!

Brisbane, we’ve got beef. In fact, we’ve got award-winning beef. Eagle Street’s resident steak masters, Kingsleys, purchased the champion pen of cattle from the RNA Paddock to Palate competition, and will be serving up the award-winning beef while stock lasts! Enjoy the finest cuts served with grilled bone marrow, celeriac remoulade and a topper—we suggest a fiery hibachi grilled king prawn or two! Read more about this gold-medal beef here!

ZA ZA TA Bar and Kitchen is back and better than ever, showcasing an ethical menu full of vibrant vegetarian fare! Encompassing Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine, the Tel Aviv-inspired spot has launched a fully vegetarian menu, with highlights like old-school hummus with braised chickpeas and a 63-degree egg, and shish barak–those iconic Middle Eastern dumplings, filled with flavourful pumpkin.

Samford’s fine diner, Pause, is hosting a very special lunch showcasing the king of crustacea this weekend… The four-course lobster feast kicks off with fresh oysters, Canadian scallop sashimi, tuna tartare and a salmon battuto, before a local prawn kataifi with cream of potatoes and soy pearls. The star of the show is a 1kg tropical lobster (yep, one per person!) with lemon butter and sides, followed by a vanilla Bavarese with pistachio and fresh berries. The feast is available for lunch on Sunday, August 16 only–book your table here!

Queenslanders are sending our love to Victoria as they get through this incredibly tough time, and thanks to Scenic Rim Farm Box we can send something extra special to our mates down south, or anywhere around the country! The Thinking about you box is packed with delightful Queensland produce, self-care products, toiletries, and more. Order yours here, get it sent straight to your loved ones’ door, and make their day.

Now, the hard part. Where to dine first?
