Word on the street: foodie news
We’ve got two words to say to you, Brisbane. Biscoff gelato.
What if we told you that this week sees two exciting bars enter the Brisbane drinking scene, alongside the return of some iconic CBD markets and a very special Belgian gelato special? It’s all happening, Brissy!
Major players in Australia’s gelato game, Gelatissimo have really taken it upon themselves to release some unreal monthly specials of late. August is all about Lotus Biscoff Spread–the Belgian caramelised biscuit spread that we eat by the spoonful. Gelatissimo’s Biscoff gelato is a buttery cinnamon biscuit gelato layered with cookie butter and topped with crunchy biscuit pieces. Heart eyes.
August 6 can’t come soon enough for northsiders, with Wilston Village Bar set to open its doors, ready to serve laid back vibes and plenty of cold ones. A classic menu of share plates, steaks, burgers, salads and more will accompany the beverage offerings that look to have an emphasis on local and craft drops. To get in on the action, book a table by calling 3856 2304, and stay tuned for more info on this new spot!
Whether you’re a city worker or you’re making the trek into town for a Thursday treat, you’ll be very happy to hear the Brisbane City Markets are back in full swing at Cathedral Square! Taking over the central spot between 8 am and 2 pm every Thursday, the markets are the perfect place for a bite–we’re talking thicc snags from Brat Haus, a taco or two from Carlos Tacos, or for your weekly Doughluxe fix! Face it, you weren’t going to eat that lunch you brought in to the office anyway…
The talented team at Dalton Catering are set to host the second instalment of Wildfire & Pour on Saturday, September 5 at The Black Brisbane. Enjoy champagne and bites on arrival by the fire before taking a seat and digging into a three-course feast cooked over open fire, accompanied by a range of new-release drops from Jericho Family Wines. Book your spot here!
We’re big fans of the small but mighty, and Graceville’s newest bar–just 28 square metres–is proof that good things come in tiny packages! Honour Ave Cellars will seat just eight guests at a time when it opens later this month, with a concise menu of bar snacks, cheese and charcuterie. What Honour Ave Cellars lacks in size is made up by the wine list, with 2800-odd wines from 100 different labels set to line the bar. We’ll bring you more on this cosy spot when it opens its doors!
Well, August is doing the absolute most.
