Brisbane CBD's Finest Brunch and Breakfast Hotspots
There is no doubting we are a great nation of sunshine, avocados and breakfast!
We here at G&G refuse to believe that the great Australian morning ritual is limited to active wear, pups and the burbs, and have taken it upon ourselves to wake up early-ish (11am is early right?) to seek out the shining stars of Brisbane CBD breakfast and brunch. Arm yourself with a knife, fork and some loose-fitting clothes, it’s time to eat your way through the top 8 spots in the city:
Botero House | Adelaide Street
Brunch is a no-brainer at Botero House, offering ridiculously good eats to get you through your day. Get your coffee and brekkie fix in one with the espresso panna cotta, packed with granola, poached quince, coconut whip, and banana – or if you’re after something savoury, you can’t go past their roasted pumpkin with quinoa and zucchini popcorn waffles.
Brisbane Marriott Hotel | Queen Street
Who doesn’t love all you can eat? (hello elasticated pants!) Especially when it comes to brunch, all you can eat creeps into serious food coma territory and Brisbane Marriott Hotel know how to do a mean brunch spread. From pancakes, to eggs benny, pasta for more of a lunch leaning and mimosas a plenty, these guys have you covered for any sort of brunch outing.
Ed Café | Edward Street
All day brunch is music to our ears and when there is a bright teal coffee machine involved, we are hooked. Bringing you suburban breakfast panache to a central location, Ed Café have all your breakfast and brunch needs on hand, with the all-important smashed avo taking pride and place on their menu. Get ED-ucated and make Ed Café a go-to Mon-Fri brunch location.
Greenglass | George Street
For all of you who prefer to breakfast solo and sit with your newspaper in silence, Greenglass is the place for you. With delicious pastries and coffees available from 8, this place is for the inner French in us all who potentially find mornings a little more difficult than most.
Felix for Goodness |Burnett Lane
If you’re looking for a cosy little hide away for an early weekday breakfast meeting or just a solo breakfast to soothe the soul, Felix will take good care of you! Not only do they boast a super healthy fresh menu, their interiors will have you in Instagram heaven. Sip on that golden turmeric latte and let the day start with some goodness.
Brew | Lower Burnett Lane
Having been open for almost a decade now, Brew should know a thing or two about early mornings and the mid-morning grumbles. If their Brew Bene alone (confit chorizo and cornbread, need I say more?) isn’t enough to make you want to check out this place then the atmosphere is something you have to see for yourself. Melt into the walls and indulge in a brew or two.
Pablo & Rusty’s | Mary St
Known for their expertise in coffee, Pablo & Rusty’s are sure to get you well and truly caffeinated, but certainly don’t discount their food menu. With options to go and a full dine-in menu available from 6:30am – 2pm, they have the location to boot and enough options to keep your breakfast and brunch cravings satisfied. P.s The Breakfast Burrito could change your life!
Jak & Hill | Spring Hill
Just a short stroll to the quieter side of the city lies one of Brisbane’s hidden gems. Keeping things simple and unfussy but still offering up some super delicious, quality, brunch options, these guys will make you forget about your looming work deadline and let you enjoy that hour break you well and truly deserve!
Nodo | Elizabeth Street
The new brunch kids on the block, Nodo, are proving that freshness is key, appealing to the gourmet in us all while still providing decadent eats at its finest. From sweet potato waffles to their signature Poke bowl, their food will be sure to up your Insta game 500% while filling your belly with goodness. Just be warned, don’t look through their gallery unless you are actually close to breakfast time and in the area! It isn’t just the hipsters of Albion or the gourmands of Greenslopes that get to indulge in the sanctity of a delicious breakfast but all you City cool Cats (see what I did there?) now have a right to be proud of what your streets and hidden alleys have to offer!
