Bites and Brews Laneway Festival

Looking for something a little different to another Saturday night at the pub? You know, the same old night of a couple of beers, a plate of wedges and singing along to ‘Living on a Prayer’? Well search no more, because we’ve got something that will have you foaming with excitement more than a freshly poured schooner would. There’s a new festival brewing at the Shafston Hotel: The Bites and Brews Laneway Festival. The Bites and Brews festival is sure to be a hit with tempting treats, delectable drinks and summer’s best sounds to top it off. The music isn’t the main event of this festival though, it’s all about the food and drinks. bites-and-brews You’ll be able to meander through the laneways surrounding the Shafston exploring all the delights some of Brisbane’s best food trucks have to offer and wash it down with your pick of craft brews, be it beer, cider, wine or cocktails (or all of the above). You can expect crafty booze from the likes of James Squire, Stone & Wood and Sommersby Cider among others. Then you can bite into your choice of snacks from gourmet food trucks such as Chiptease, who’ll be serving up delicious loaded crisp chips in sweet and savoury (you know you want both, we sure do!), The Bun Mobile and their irressistable steamed buns, Char Baby’s chargrilled goodness and King of the Wings who’ll be bringing their glorious five flavours of wings. The entertainment planned will keep the partying vibe strong long after your belly is full. A special mention must be made to the DJ on the line-up named after one of our favourite foods (though really, all food is our favourite), so cheers to you DJ Bacon! The promise of good bites, brews and beats has you hungry, right? No tickets are needed for the Bites and Brews Laneway Festival, which will be happening Saturday 28th of February at the Shafston Hotel from midday until late. Words by Typhanie Vayro
