Billykart Bar & Provisions

Let the fun be-gin! Billykart Bar & Provisions is officially open for business. Well, technically, they’ve been open for a while as Billykart Provisions: a retail, deli, and bottle shop space in West End. But the good people at Billykart have decided to throw a bar in there, because, well, alcohol. Really, they’re just staying true to their name by providing Brisbane with pour-fection! The new indoor space revolves around a long high table bar, which doubles as the bar and the main seating. Outdoor seating is also available for around 15-20 people, making it a nice remote space where you can drink in peace and comfort. Bevvy wise, the main focus is on wine. Billykart has approximately 130 wines (you had me at Merlot), but all you non-winos needn’t fear – Billykart also has a selection of aperitif style drinks, such as sherry, sake, vermouths and gin. But wait, there’s more! You can also kick back with a decent selection of craft beer. Sip, sip, hooray! It’s a well-known fact that alcohol makes you peckish, so what can you chow down on while you’re sipping your drinks? Billykart’s menu is made up of bar snacks, charcuterie and cheese with a mostly Spanish influence in chef Ben O’Donoghue’s classic style. When we say bar snacks, we don’t mean peanuts and pretzels – Billykart’s nibbles are big on flavour and quality, including oysters with habanero mignonette, truffle fries, and chorizo pamploma. Everything happens for a Riesling, and we think that Billykart’s new bar addition came to fruition to put you on cloud wine. Words by Nicole Portacha
