Big American hops ‘n’ dawgs at Archive
09 Mar 2015
Big American beers, big American hot dogs, and big American sports streaming on all screens. Nope, we haven’t left the country for the American dream, we’re just talking about Thursdays at Archive, where the food is big and the beer is bigger. We might not be as keen on deep-frying everything as those crazy Americans, but we don’t mind a bit of USA attitude – go big or go home! West End’s Archive Beer Boutique has brought us a night where we can drop that ‘modern Australian tucker’ and dig into some Hops ‘n’ Dawgs, every Thursday, all day and night. You might not see the quarterbacks or cheerleaders ‘pre-gaming’, but you will be sure to find baseball and NFL on the big screens, live music from 8.30pm and plenty of schooners and gourmet hot dogs to dig into. And these are no plain old wieners slapped in bread, they’re hot dogs worthy of our gourmet tastes, with toppings like steak and BBQ, pesto and chilli cheese! Already a favourite in Brisbane’s now thriving craft beer community, this smart but rustic boutique has upped the ante on our hometown drinking standards. With 22 rotating taps, one of the 400 local and imported beers is guaranteed to satisfy any novice or beer snob. Sitting on cosy vintage couches, sip away on some local summery golden ales or try a syrupy dark Danish stout. You’ll be amidst an atmosphere mixed of old and new with walls of old books, red pool tables and comic book walls. Open 7 days a week, Archive is always buzzing with a special dinner or drink deal. There’s even the Next Door Cellars bottle shop for the beer fanatics to explore, which is, you guessed it, just next door! So if you haven’t already made your way there, hop to it and get your booty down there for a rad time. Thursdays have now become your excuse to be loud, eat lots, drink hops and just be a Yank at the Archive Beer Boutique & Bistro. Words by Julia Burgess Keeping the G&G up to date with all the latest tasty tidbits requires a lot of double lattes and espresso martinis, so we occasionally need to give out some sponsored love. But rest assured that we only work with businesses that we think are really nifty, as the sponsor for this post is!
