It’s that time of the year!

The end of another year means it is the time to catch up with all those people you have been meaning to catch up with since last Christmas – it’s a vicious cycle. We understand the hassle of it all, but luckily, have found several stellar venues across the city that will get you excited about this yearly tradition!

Finney Isles | Fortitude Valley

Recognising the popularity and shortage of space at much-loved and (literally) packed-to-the-rafters cocktail bar, Savile Row, the owners decided it was time they introduced a third sibling venue – right across the road!

The aesthetic and interior are moody, classic and equipped with their infamous back bars lined with top-shelf booze from across the globe. Despite the enviable display of liqueurs and spirits, they’ve also got a charcuterie menu full of all our favourite savoury treats. Cheeses, Iberian ham and prosciutto are there to nibble on while you sip through their rotating list of wine from mainly natural and bio-dynamic producers. Finney Isles also boasts a striking range of cocktails, seven beers and a house spritz on tap. We’ll see you behind the big, blue door.

Next Episode | South Brisbane

Fish Lane’s new watering hole is part-barber, part-bar and full James Bond-esque. Accessible through the barbershop at the front of the site, you’ll need a secret code to enter, gained by dialling through on a retro phone on the wall. Once granted access, be transported back to the 90’s and embrace the hip-hop mecca of New York, with pink neon signs and murals of hip-hop greats while you sip on on-theme cocktails, wines, and beers. With names like the Hendricks Lamar, Get Drunk or Die Tryin’ and I Got 99 Problems But a Drink Ain’t One, you’ll be sipping happily all night long. A quick walk across the bridge from the city, it’s the perfect spot to leave your work week woes behind…

Mr Percival’s | CBD

The city’s newest overwater bar at Howard Smith Wharves is causing quite the stir! The newest spot to unwind, it is the perfect place for that pre-Christmas catch up before the new year sneaks up on you! Cocktails, spritzes, and a lengthy list of wine focused on showcasing small producers are accompanied by a range of delicious seafood menu options like caviar, lobster rolls and prawn cocktails, as well as a selection of salads and vegetable sides. Picture it now: the sunset, river views, interiors to die over, drinks galore, and delicious food – what better way to celebrate the end of another year?

Boom Boom Room | CBD

When a cocktail list is divided into playlists, you know it’s going to be good! Nestled under killer new restaurant Donna Chang, Boom Boom Room draws inspiration from musical eras of the past, the jazz and soul playlist features hits such as, What a wonderful world, Come fly with me, and Feeling good. Moving to their rhythm and blues list, concoctions inspired by Aretha, Sam Cook, and James Brown will have you shouting R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Champas, wine, beer, and 13 pages of spirits are available to sip while you enjoy the acoustic stylings of their live bands. Food-wise, they’re offering freshly shucked oysters, Sichuan spiced wagyu beef, vegie spring rolls, fried calamari, crispy pork belly, and Chinese five spiced mushroom pancakes. Boom boom shake the room!

XCARGO | Fortitude Valley

This spacious addition to the Valley is a shoo-in for one of the buzziest openings of the year. Guests can nosh on a range of buns and baos, cheese and charcuterie boards, while on the mains menu there’s pork scotch fillet, snapper, and bavette steak. Their bar menu offers bubbles, champagne, spritzes, and red, white, and rose on tap! With so many different spots to pull up a seat, it’s the perfect spot to settle in for an end-of-year catch-up. Get X-cited!

Felon’s Brewing Co | CBD

Make your EOY drinks that little bit more entertaining at Felon’s! Offering brewery tours to enhance your knowledge of the sacred amber nectar, and tastings to determine your brew of choice for the evening, you can enjoy some finger-licking good food to snack on while you reflect on your superior knowledge of all things beer! Throw down a picnic rug and enjoy the company of good friends or family on their Boat Yard lawn, and enjoy some fish and chips in reclined summer style. Otherwise, choose from a range of tasty options like wood-fired pizzas, burgers, snacks, desserts. An end-of year trip to Felon’s is the perfect excuse to check out the new Howard Smith Wharves, and the perfect spot to enjoy a midsummer sunset with friends!

Here’s cheers to friends and beers as we approach another new year!
