Bacchus - a Degustation Beyond Food

There are few places quite like Bacchus. Located in the epicentre of Brisbane’s cultural area, known for its delicious a la carte dining and attached to a five star, luxury hotel – Bacchus takes ‘the whole package’ to grand new heights.

From personalised recommendations from the sommelier to a cheese cart (we kid you not), this is one fine dining destination that lives up to the hype. But the real Bacchus experience is their legendary degustation:

Location is everything, so begin by booking yourself in for a staycation at Rydges. With the South Bank parklands, GoMA and performing arts centre at your front door – where better to be a tourist in your own city? Book a City Lights Stay and enjoy a bottle of Australia sparkling on arrival, before you wander up to the Soleil Pool Bar for a signature cocktail and a sneaky Peking duck spring roll or two before you make your way to the main event.

No stranger to decadent degustations, Bacchus has seen its fair share of multi-course meals. From truffle and caviar degustations in 2017, Head Chef Massimo Speroni has welcomed 2018 with the ultimate celebration of local seafood, the Queensland Coast Degustation. It’s the kind of degustation that will make you want to scream QUEENSLANDER from the Bacchus rooftop and crush a Milton Mango as you devour courses of the east coasts best, but let’s be real – it’s all about the wine. Feast on freshly shucked rock oysters, lightly charred Hervey Bay scallops, cuttlefish with grape, lime and chive, Moreton Bay bug and gold band snapper ravioli before finishing with mango and petit fours – euphoric AF. Seafood not your scene? Prefer olives to oysters? Bacchus offer vegetarian and vegan degustations for our plant based pals – no one should miss out on this culinary exploration.

When your belly is full, but you’ve still got an appetite for a good time. QPAC’s 2018 lineup is stellar, so it’s time to roll yourself across the street for dessert: the theatre. From classic musicals like Aladdin and Mamma Mia, to modern rock operas like American Idiot – no matter your taste (or age), there’s something sweet to savour. For an experience as layered as the dishes themselves, pack your best (dress) stretchy pants, take advantage of late check out and buffet breakfasts at Bacchus and treat yo’self!

Keeping the G&G up to date with all the latest tasty tidbits requires a lot of double lattes and espresso martinis, so we occasionally need to give out some sponsored love. But rest assured that we only work with businesses that we think are really nifty, as the sponsor for this post is!
