Australia’s first champagne festival is nearly here!

Does the sound of a bottle of bubbly popping give you warm and fuzzy feelings? Do you taste stars every time you take a sip of champers? Well there’s a sparkling festival coming up that should definitely be on your calendar – Effervesence. That’s right, this celebration on Sunday 21 August is about all things champagne, bringing France’s bubbliest region (where we imagine everyone is just tipsy all the time) to Spicer’s Hidden Vale in Grandchester, about an hour out of Brisbane. So find yourself a designated driver and get ready for a day of champagne tastings, cheese and charcuterie and a wander through a vineyard. There’ll be representatives from major and boutique champagne houses at stations throughout the winery, along with champagne experts (how do we get that job?) to give you tips and info on the various champagne regions. Follow the Champagne Trail all at your own pace, stopping at various stations to ensure that you’re staying hydrated (with bubbles of course). Squint your eyes a little, and you’ll be sure you’ve been transported to the French region, and not just South East Queensland. Tickets for the Sunday event include three glorious hours of champagne tasting, bread, cheese and charcuterie, a Phillip Jamesse tasting flute and a notebook to record your experiences. Tickets for this event are $120 and can be purchased here. There’s a VIP package on offer too, because nothing screams ‘very important’ like champagne, but we’ll go right ahead and tell you it’s probably out of your budget (check it out here if you don’t believe us).
