Brisbane's April Bucket List | Gourmand & Gourmet

April bucket list

We’re not mad that hot cross buns have been on our shelves (and in our hearts) since Boxing Day - we’re mad that after this month is up, it’s straight back to cereal for brekkie (we do know what we’ve got before it’s gone).

Yes, it’s April – the month of fooling, Easter eggs and the year’s best long weekend (change my mind). To top off one of 2019’s greatest months you’re going to be treated to a beer festival, mulled wine panna cotta, and a three-day pop-up foodie playground.

Starting ticking these puppies off your bucket list, and planning everything else in store below.

For the Love of Riesling | Osbourne Hotel | Fortitude Valley

If you weren’t a believer of everything happens for a riesling, you’re about to be. From April 14-May 19, Osbourne Hotel is adding some finesse to your social life with four riesling-fuelled events (and frozen riesling aka friesling available anytime throughout the month). Give in to pleasure at a long lunch this month, and see what’s on for May here (as well as all the finer, winer details for the aforementioned event). Good things happen to those who wine.

GABS Festival | Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre | South Brisbane

Brace yourself for a whole lot of brewhaha as GABS Festival makes its first appearance in Brisbane! On Saturday April 27, the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre will be loaded up with over 170 beers and ciders (made especially for the festival), with circus performers, silent discos and food trucks galore. Find out every detail to the last drop here (and don’t forget to secure tickets while you’re there)!

Parmy and Paddle Degustation | Little Big House | South Bank

Saddle up for Little Big House’s Parmy and Paddle Degustation! This epic feast is available every Sunday in April (plus all Easter weekend long), and consists of four delicious parmy and 4 Pines beer pairings. How about that chicken parmy spring roll with Brookvale Union ginger beer though? Bookings aren’t required, so bring your cash ($48), your best appetite, and head in anytime between 11am-10pm. (Y)eat haw.

Belgian chocolate espresso martini | Goldfinch | CBD

Espresso martini, but make it Easter savvy. The CBD’s Mediterranean oasis, Goldfinch, is shaking up Easter cocktails with a Belgian chocolate espresso martini topped with gold leaf! Tap into this tipple for an xtra holiday treat (or two) anytime between now and the last day in April.

City Winery | Fortitude Valley

How did Brisbane go 160 years without a winery? Seriously? City Winery has soothed our dry spell with glorious grape juice being turned out onsite at the brand new micro-winery. Pop by for a fresh drop of Gerler Wines and smoked fish rillettes from the restaurant, try your hand at wine blending workshops, or host your next function in the stunning space!

Noosa Heads Distillery | Noosaville

Fortune favours the booze. Noosa Heads has gained a brand new distillery with signature ‘Fortune’ sips released to cement its opening in aesthetic stone (dry gin, white malt whiskey, and vodka). Heading in for a peek will spark an uncontrollable urge to try a cocktail (hello, malt martini), so we’d recommend bringing your designated driver along (thanks mum).

High tea | Emporium Hotel | South Bank

Cucumber sandwiches are cute, but we’d rather tackle a lobster brioche bun. Emporium Hotels’ high tea is up and serving daily in Belle Epoque with a healthy mix of savoury and sweet treats balanced across three tiers. Come for the buckwheat blini and stay for the Mumm if you want to take your package to a top tier experience. Find out more and book in here.

Devon | Garden City

A Sydneysider has sidestepped our way! The luxe Devon Café has set up shop at Garden City, bringing boujie boi offerings with it. Think wagyu tenderloin with cep puree and sautéed mushrooms and gourmet brioche French toast with fresh and cooked mango, frosted corn flakes, pine lime cream, and marigold. Money please!

Regatta Fair | Regatta Hotel | Toowong

That’s right, lovers of all things food, craft beer and wine, the annual Regatta Fair is coming back bigger and better than ever over three delicious days! The Regatta Hotel’s carpark will transform into a fairy-lit foodie playground from 4pm ’til late on Friday 5th April, and from 12pm ’til late from Saturday 6th April to Sunday 7th April, seeing foodie pop-ups, and beers, cocktails and wine captivate a sea of hungry eyes. Find out all the juicy details here.

Mulled wine panna cotta | Deer Duck Bistro | Auchenflower

As if mulled wine couldn’t get any sweeter, Deer Duck Bistro have gone and turned your fave winter sip into a sumptuous dessert! Make sure you get up close with the mulled wine panna cotta, with pistachio meringue, rhubarb curd, poached pear and Scottish shortbread.

Say nay to May and embrace the month ahead.
