After dark at Little Pawpaw

Little Pawpaw puts a refreshingly healthy and delightfully cute twist on the traditional breakfast café. The grand opening on Thursday night gave us a taste of what Little Pawpaw has to offer: excellent food in a relaxed locale. While roasting marshmallows over an open fire enjoying a favourite childhood beverage (the much-more-delicious-than-it-sounds spider) we were treated to corn and zucchini fritters served with smoked tomato relish and herb sour cream, and we couldn’t have been happier! The outdoor dining area, located in the heart of Kedron suburbs, offers the quiet charms of suburbia while friendly staff maintain that classic café atmosphere. With plenty of gluten-free options such as the house made muesli served with organic yoghurt and apple and berries, there’s also picks for the hungrier patron: a seared rump steak sandwich on toasted Turkish bread filled with crispy onion rings, rocket, tomato, beetroot relish and gruyere cheese received our tick of approval. No morning meal is truly complete without a caffeine hit, and the Campos Coffee on offer at Little Pawpaw is the best on Brisbane’s northside. Open for breakfast and brunch from 6.30am to 2pm weekdays and 7am to 1pm on weekends, Little PawPaw is sure be a northside breakfast institution for years to come. Words by Liam Warrener
