Ah, winter. Your makeup stays on, you can stop checking for those troublesome sweat patches and you know that you’re going to enjoy hot food on a whole ‘nother level. Wouldn’t it be great if there were some kind of way to celebrate winter in all its glory? Well, it turns out that Customs House is partnering up with Absolut to present you with an Absolut Winter Pop Up Bar! Chill, chill – we’ve got all the details of this brrrilliant winter escape. From May 18 through to the end of August, Customs House and Absolut will have you walking in a winter wonderland, Michael Bublé style. To protect you from the cold weather (that will probably only last about two weeks, thanks Brisbane) the pop up bar will feature three large igloos overlooking the euphoric brown snake, aka Brisbane River. You and your squad will mingle around Nordic-styled furnishings and fur-draped lounge chairs that scream euro-flavour ski lodge. Okay, so we’ve got a great atmosphere to look forward to, but what about the sips and eats? Treat yo’self to the bar’s signature brew – the Spiced Absolut Winter. It features Absolut vodka and cranberry juice infused with cinnamon, star anise, cloves and orange, and topped with meringue foam. Spicy! Of course, there will be plenty of other cocktails, wine, beer and spirits that you can pair with the perfect accompanying dishes. Did someone say gourmet cheese plate? The cheese plate is loaded with Swiss Gruyere and triple cream brie. Everything else on the menu is equally European inspired, and they know their stuff. The warming venison stew, crispy pork cheek sliders and chocolate fondue with strawberries and marshmallows will knock your socks off (so make sure you’ve got a backup pair, it’s cold, remember).
