A cheese toastie café has opened in the CBD!

  • Food & Booze
It ain’t easy being cheesy – unless you’re the city’s new eatery dedicated to cheese toasties of course, in which case being cheesy comes as easy as breathing. Melt Brothers has hit Gresham Lane in the CBD with a whole line up of toasted sandwiches dedicated to the goodness of cheese. There’s American cheese, cheddar cheese, Havarti cheese, mozzarella cheese – well, you get the picture. And it’s all sandwiched between fresh sourdough bread (or their gluten free option), along with plenty of other cheese complementary fillings. Coming out in bright yellow boxes, you’ll find toasties like the M.C. Cheesy, with macaroni and cheese, maple bacon and cheddar, The BFC with buttermilk fried chicken, slaw, buffalo sauce and cheddar, or the Hippy Cheese, with basil pesto, grilled eggplant, roast capsicum, spinach, roma tomato and mozzarella. melt-brothers-2There’s even a breakfast option with maple bacon, fried eggs and cheddar cheese for those who need a little pre-office cheesiness – who needs avo on toast when you can have melted cheddar? And vegans, you may not believe your eyes, but there is a vegan triple cheese toastie on the menu. This is not a drill. If all those cheesy carbs aren’t enough for you, you can pair everything with tater tots loaded with cheese sauce, and even tater tots stuffed into your sandwich. Because why not? A small list of beer, wine, cider and ginger beer is available for after work sessions from Wednesday to Saturday (or cheeky lunch time drinks), with seating in the laneway if you don’t want to grab and go. Ready to get cheesed? You’ll find Melt Brothers in Gresham Lane in the CBD, open Monday to Saturday for lunch, Wednesday to Saturday for dinner, and weekdays for breakfast. Words by Ranyhyn Akui
