7 delicious things to do in Brisbane this week

  • Food & Booze
What’s on in food this week? Plenty of Christmas cheer to spread around, the perfect Friday knock-offs and the return of Cloudland’s champagne soaked brunch!

All week

CHRISTMAS POP-UP STORE | WANDERING COOKS | SOUTH BRISBANE 9AM-9PM
Wandering Cooks have made your Christmas shopping a little less stressful with their pop-up markets. Pop in from 9am-9pm any day until December 14 and check out quirky goodies from local food and craft makers perfect for stocking fillers and wrapping up to put under the tree. You can even grab a customized hamper for that picky relative who complains no matter what you get them. What’s more, you might even find a tasty food truck or two to make sure you don’t shop on an empty stomach! For more information, check out their website.

FRIDAY 9

APERITIVO FRIDAYS | DELFINA’S BISTRO | FORTITUDE VALLEY | 4-7PM
It’s the end of the working week and you’re craving something refreshing, a little fizzy and with plenty of alcohol. What could possibly make finally wrapping your hands around that sacred Friday knock-off any better? Free canapés! Delfina’s know the value of a good Friday knock-off, so to share the love, they’re throwing drink specials on tap beers and Aperol Spritz, with live music and, yes, free canapés every Friday from 4pm.
EATS & BEATS CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL | BERRINBA WETLANDS PARK | BROWNS PLAINS | 5-9PM
Mixing pop up food trucks and stalls with music and a dash of traditional Christmas festivities and decorations, the Eats & Beats Christmas market village with plenty of Christmas carols and a special visit from Santa Claus will all get you in the mood for the most joyful time of year. The star on the top of the tree is that entry is completely free!  So, go on, give yourself an early Christmas present and head down to the Eats & Beats Christmas Festival. Check out their Facebook page here to stay up to date with all the festivities.
Pop-up Paint and Sip | Shouk Café | Paddington | 7pm | $45
Want to make your Friday drinks a little different? How about pairing them with a painting session and popcorn cauliflower from Shouk’s new bar menu? Cork & Chroma are popping up at Shouk for a night, with one of their resident artists there to take you through an evening of painting, sipping and nibbling. Grab your tickets here.

THURSDAY 15

CHRISTMAS ON CRIBB | MILTON MARKETS | Milton | 4-10PM
Milton Markets are getting a festive overhaul, just in time for the silly season. There will be pop up bars, live entertainment, festive foods, artisan gifts, guest stalls and best of all, an appearance from gelato legends, Gelato Messina, who’ll be bringing along a new Christmas flavour! Held on Thursday 15th and Friday 16th December from 4pm to 10pm, it really is the most wonderful time of the year. Entry is free, with plenty of parking, and you can keep up to date on all the details here.

Friday 16

SOUTH BANK CHRISTMAS MARKETS | SOUTH BANK | DECEMBER 16-23
Forget decorations, all we want for Christmas is stomachs full to bursting. Held over eight balmy nights, South Bank will play host to a range of traditional Christmas gifts, keepsakes, festive live music and of course, an abundance of mouth watering eats. Santa may favour the north, but we’re pretty happy sticking to the south side of the river this Christmas. Head to South Bank from December 16-23 from 11am-10pm each day to check them out.

SUNDAY 18

THE BRUNCH CLUB | CLOUDLAND | FORTITUDE VALLEY | 11:30AM-2:30PM | $75
If you’re not sipping bottomless mimosas with your brunch on a Sunday morning, then frankly, you’re just not doing Sundays right. Lucky for you, Cloudland are inviting one and all to join the return of their popular Brunch Club for one day only – and there’s plenty of bubbles involved!  $75pp will score you 3 and a half hours of food and booze, complete with live entertainment and a pan-Asian inspired brunch menu.
